Argenti Motorsport, Chris Dittmann Racing, Rodin Motorsport and Xcel Motorsport have all been announcing driver signings for British Formula 4 recently.

Remaining with Argenti for a second season is Mercedes-AMG Formula 1 junior and 2024 CIK-FIA World Karting and Ginetta Junior champion Ethan Jeff-Hall.

As a single-seater rookie the 17-year-old came fifth in the 2025 British F4 standings with one victory and five other podiums. He also finished second in the first of the non-championship F1 support races at Silverstone.

CDR has also gone for continuity, retaining Tommy Harfield and Piotr Orzechowski from its 2025 line-up.

Harfield, 16, competed full-time and three wins late in the season propelled him to fourth in the standings. He had six other podium appearances (including the British Grand Prix support races) and qualified on pole twice. Polish racer Orzechowski did three rounds last year to kick off his car racing career, and his best result was a 17th place.

Rodin Motorsport will run Ethan Lennon and McLaren junior Dries Van Langendonck in British F4 this year. Both are already racing for the team in the Iberia-based Formula Winter Series, which they are one round into. Van Langendonck leads the points after claiming a win and a pole at Estoril, and Lennon is 11th in the standings with a fourth place to his name.

Lennon hails from South Africa, and the 15-year-old came 13th in entry-level sportscar series Ginetta Junior last year as a part-timer so will know several of British F4’s circuits. In his junior karting career he finished third in the Trofeo Andrea Margutti, 11th in the IAME Winter Cup, 16th in the ROK Superfinal.

Van Langendonck joined Rodin for the last three rounds of the 2025 British F4 season, taking a pole and victory in his debut weekend and coming 21st in the standings. His points-per-race average was the 11th highest in the field.

The 15-year-old Belgian was World and European champion, won the Champions of the Future and WSK Final Cup titles and was WSK Super Master Series runner-up in karting’s OK Junior class, and in the senior OK class was WSK FC and WSK SMS champion, eighth in the CIK-FIA European Championship and 17th in CotF.

Cole Hewetson, another South African, is staying at Xcel for a third year. He debuted in single-seaters with the team in the United Arab Emirates’ two-round Formula Trophy series in 2024, coming 15th, then was 18th in F4 Middle East at the start of 2025. A British F4 campaign followed in which he was 16th with one podium at the final round, then he ended the year with a FTrophy cameo.

Preparing to race in British F4 is top Indonesian karter Qarrar Firhand. The 15-year-old began testing in F4 machinery last July with AKM Motorsport, then racked up mileage with Argenti and Global Racing Service. He has confirmed he will make his F4 debut in summer, and it is expected he will do three British F4 rounds.

Tommy Harfield took a lights-to-flag victory in the reversed-grid race at British Formula 4’s Brands Hatch finale.

The Chris Dittmann Racing driver started from pole position and was unchallenged throughout the 14-lap race. He set the fastest lap of the race on his way to the victory, leading Cole Hewetson by 1.422 seconds.

Chase Fernandez got the best start when the lights went out, passing Thomas Bearman to move up to third. The top three broke away slightly from the rest of the field on the opening lap, but that advantage would not last long.

A wide moment for Bearman dropped him back behind Fionn McLaughlin. As he came past, McLaughlin’s right rear tyre made contact with Bearman’s car, almost sending McLaughlin into a spin. The freshly crowned champion held on and would soon close the gap to the leaders ahead.

Hitech’s McLaughlin initially brought team-mate Bearman with him, but Bearman began to slip backwards in the closing stages of the race, leaving four drivers at the front of the order.

McLaughlin kept the pressure on Fernandez, but there were no opportunities to make a move, and he had to settle for fourth. Likewise, Fernandez kept close behind Hewetson, but did not pass his Xcel Motorsport team-mate.

Bearman was caught by Ethan Jeff-Hall in the closing stages of the race. The pair were separated by just 0.178s at the chequered flag, but Bearman held on to take fifth.

Dries Van Langendonck claimed seventh ahead of Martin Molnar, both of whom fell backwards early on as McLaughlin and Jeff-Hall made up positions on the opening lap. Adam Al Azhari and Henry Joslyn completed the top 10.

Tommy Harfield earned his second British Formula 4 victory in race three at Silverstone as Fionn McLaughlin extended his lead at the top of the championship standings.

Chris Dittmann Racing driver Harfield snatched the lead from McLaughlin with a move down the inside of the Red Bull-backed Hitech GP driver at Brooklands mid-way through the final race of the weekend.

McLaughlin tried to fight back, and kept on Harfield’s tail with a late safety car, but Harfield was able to break away in the closing stages of the race. He finished 1.538 seconds clear with the fastest lap of the race.

At the start, McLaughlin had taken the race lead off the line after a poor getaway for Martin Molnar dropped the polesitter down the order.

James Pisczyk initially took second, but Harfield soon found a way past him. Harfield had closed onto McLaughlin’s tail when the first safety car of the race was called to clear the stranded Cole Hewetson.

Racing resumed with 11 minutes on the clock and Harfield wasted little time, making his move down the inside of McLaughlin to take the race lead moments shortly after.

Moments later, Alba Larsen spun while battling in the midfield, damaging her left-rear tyre and coming to a stop at the side of the track. A second safety car was needed to clear the incident.

Only four minutes remained when racing resumed, and McLaughlin couldn’t stay with Harfield on the restart. Piszcyk took third ahead of Ary Bansal, who wrapped up the Challenge Cup for drivers contesting up to seven of the season’s 10 rounds.

Bansal and Molnar spent the opening laps battling for position. At one point the pair were side by side with several corners as Bansal battled to keep ahead of the polesitter. He managed to keep Molnar at bay, but remained under pressure through the second half of the race.

Just behind the battling drivers, Dries Van Langendonck was waiting to take any opportunity that was presented. He couldn’t find a way past the duo and had to settle for sixth, ahead of August Raber, Ethan Jeff-Hall and Rowan Campbell-Pilling. Thomas Bearman climbed up from 15th on the grid to finish 10th.

McLaughlin leaves the penultimate weekend of the championship 61.5 points ahead of Piszcyk and Molnar, who are equal on points. There are just 80 points remaining, meaning Harfield is no longer in mathematical contention for the title.

Martin Molnar and Tommy Harfield share the British Formula 4 pole positions for round nine at Silverstone.

The two drivers were separated by just 0.040 seconds on overall timings, with Virtuosi Racing’s Molnar just quicker than the Chris Dittmann Racing’s Harfield. However, Harfield’s second fastest lap time was enough to put him on pole positon for the first race of the weekend by just 0.002s.

Before any driver could complete a lap of the Silverstone National circuit, an incident for Oleksandr Savinkov brought out the red flags. The session resumed with just over 22 minutes remaining, and stayed green until the end.

Fionn McLaughlin set the pace early on, but provisional pole position changed hands multiple times. Jimmy Piszcyk and Dries van Langendonck both took turns at the top of the order.

Molnar jumped to first with a time of 54.508s to take provisional pole just before the field returned to the pits to prepare for the final runs.

He then improved when he returned to the track, bettering his time by over 0.2s to end the session with a fastest lap of 54.318s. It was a time no driver could match, but four came within a tenth of a second of.

A late improvement from Harfield put him second, just ahead of McLaughlin, who was only 0.040s slower than Molnar.

Ary Bansal was the top Challenge Cup driver in fourth overall, 0.074s slower than Molnar. Van Langendonck was also within 0.1s of the fastest time as he placed fifth overall.

Piszcyk ended the session sixth, ahead of Henry Joslyn and Ella Lloyd. Problems for August Raber early in the session meant he was delayed getting back out after the early red flag. However, he managed to place 10th, just behind Ethan Jeff-Hall.

Adam Al Azhari was 12th overall, earning the reversed grid pole position for race two.

Chris Dittmann Racing’s Tommy Harfield claimed his and his team’s first British Formula 4 win in race one of the weekend on Donington Park’s Grand Prix layout.

Harfield achieved the feat from pole position, also his first, and finished 1.979 seconds ahead of Hitech GP’s championship leader Fionn McLaughlin.

Dries Van Langendonck joined Harfield on the front row, but the Rodin Motorsport driver stalled at the start of his first ever car race and fell to the back of the field.

Everybody managed to avoid his stationary car and Virtuosi Racing’s Martin Molnar gained one spot as he moved up to second. Molnar stayed close to Harfield, lapping quicker than him early on. But the leader did not put a wheel wrong and there were no opportunities to make an overtake.

Behind, McLaughlin had taken third from team-mate Thomas Bearman on lap one and set the fastest lap as he closed in on Molnar. In the closing laps, the pair began battling for position. A late lunge by Mclaughlin on the penultimate lap put him ahead, and when Molnar tried unsucessfully to fight back it allowed Harfield to make a gap up front on the final lap.

Multiple drivers visited the pits during the race. The first were Xcel Motorsport’s Chase Fernandez and Argenti Motorsport’s Henry Mercier. The former needed a whole new wheel, while the latter had a broken front wing. At the same time, JHR Developments’ Rowan Campbell-Pilling was circulating very slowly and he eventually made it to the pits with a puncture.

A few laps later, a black-and-orange flag summoned Xcel’s Yuhao Fu in due to front wing damage.

After his early battle with McLaughlin, Bearman also ran into problems. He had been battling with Fortec Motorsports’ Ary Bansal to keep fourth, and when Bansal got alongside him there was contact that damaged both drivers’ cars.

That promoted Rodin’s James Piszcyk to fourth ahead of a close battle for fifth. Argenti’s August Raber held the position but had Fortec’s Henry Joslyn and Argenti team-mate Ethan Jeff-Hall close behind. Raber held on and then closed in on Piszcyk late in the race.

Adam Al Azhari and Cole Hewetson were the next finishers on-the-road, but Hewetson was penalised five seconds for a start infringement and Jeff-Hall got the same penalty for track limits abuse. That promoted Al Azhari to seventh, ahead of Jeff-Hall, Virtuosi’s debuting Alexander Savinkov and Hewetson.

Van Langendonck managed to climb up to 14th by the chequered flag.

British Formula 4 teams have been in action this month for testing at Oulton Park and Donington Park.

The days at Oulton Park, which Rodin Motorsport helped book and ran on the Island layout, featured nine drivers.

James Piszcyk (Rodin) was fastest on the first morning, setting a 1m20.769s to lead Henry Joslyn (Fortec Motorsports) by 0.113 seconds. Tommy Harfield (Chris Dittmann Racing) was third fastest, 0.395s behind.

Joslyn lowered the pace to 1m20.124s in the afternoon, and Piszcyk improved but was 0.227s off the new benchmark laptime. Harfield was third again, just 0.336s off.

Piszcyk returned to the top the next morning with a 1m20.184s, pipping Martin Molnar (Virtuosi Racing) by 0.093s and Joslyn by 0.103s. All but two drivers improved in the afternoon, and Molnar posted a 1m19.926s late on to go 0.121s ahead of Joslyn. Piszcyk and August Raber (Argenti Motorsport) were also within 0.4s of the pace.

Joslyn, 15, is moving to British F4 after two seasons in entry-level sportscar series Ginetta Junior. He won four times en route to fourth in the 2024 standings.

In 2022 he was IAME Euro Series runner-up, fourth in the British Kartmasters Grand Prix and seventh in the IAME Warriors Final for X30 Junior karts, and was 15th in the FIA Karting Academy Trophy.

Raber has switched over from Xcel Motorsport for his sophomore British F4 season, having come 21st last year with a best finish of fifth an injury-interrupted campaign. He was eighth in F4 Middle East earlier this year, and won a race there.

Joining Xcel is Yuhao Fu. The 16-year-old was 18th last season with Virtuosi, and fourth on home soil in Chinese F4 where he claimed two victories. He was 15th in F4 Middle East, which concluded two weeks ago.

Harfield, also 16, was part of CDR’s driver development programme in 2024 while racing in the BRSCC Fiesta Junior championship. His time in touring cars was interrupted by a hand injury, but did include two wins.

The entry list grew to 16 drivers for British F4’s official pre-season test day on Donington’s National layout, and in the morning Raber set a 1m04.879s to edge Rodin’s Ella Lloyd to top spot by 0.059s. Piszcyk was a further 0.086s back, and also within 0.2s of Raber were Mercedes-AMG Formula 1 junior Ethan Jeff-Hall (Argenti), Joslyn and Molnar.

Laptimes were considerably slower in the afternoon, as a 1m10.925s was enough to put Argenti’s Henry Mercier on top. He was fastest by 0.201s over Molnar and by 0.421s over Raber.

Also confirmed as joining the 2025 grid before that test were Xavier Avramides (Hitech GP) and Adam Al Azhari (Rodin).

Avramides, 16, comes from Australia. He finished 23rd in the USA SuperNationals for X30 Jr karts, then on OK karts was 10th in WSK’s Euro Series and 14th in its Super Master Series.

Al Azhari, younger brother of 2024 Spanish F4 runner-up Keanu, came 24th in Spanish F4 last year as a part-timer and 12th in the UAE’s Formula Trophy. More recently he was 10th in F4 Middle East.
