Christian Cameron set the pace in USF Pro 2000 pre-season testing on Homestead-Miami Speedway’s road course this week.

The 15-year-old American was driving for TJ Speed, landing a slot at the two-day test only the previous week, and is yet to source the funds required to race in USFP2000. In the last two years he has come 10th in USF Juniors and 11th in USF2000.

There were four test sessions on Tuesday, and Jay Howard Driver Development by Ed Carpenter Racing’s duo of Andres Cardenas and JT Hoskins led the way in the first. A 1m20.8648s put Cardenas on top by 0.1687 seconds, with the pair not improving on those laptimes in later sessions.

Pabst Racing’s Jacob Douglas was 0.5561s behind in third, and Frankie Mossman (Velocity Racing Development), Cameron and Sebastian Manson (Turn 3 Motorsport) were also within a second of the pace.

Manson was quickest in session two. He set a 1m21.2349s, pipping Mossman by 0.0546s. Douglas was third again, 0.3361s off, and team-mate G3 Argyros was fourth. Cardenas did not record any laptimes.

It was even closer at the top in session three, as Mossman’s 1m21.5729s earned him first place by just 0.0477s. Cameron racked up lots of laps and was second fastest, and VRD’s Teddy Musella was only 0.1105s off Mossman in third. Manson was 0.4098s back in fourth.

Seven of the 16 drivers testing recorded their personal bests in the day-ending session four, and it was also when the test’s fastest laps were set. Cameron’s 1m20.8493s became the benchmark time, and he was narrowly faster than Mossman and Musella who did far less running but were right on the pace. Mossman was 0.0173s shy of top spot, and Musella by 0.0988s.

Leonardo Escorpioni (Turn 3), Jack Jeffers (Exclusive Autosport) and Manson were split by 0.0595s in the next three places, all within a quarter of a second of Cameron, and a second covered the top 12.

Cardenas was back on top the next morning, but came 0.0705s short of matching his personal best from session one. He was also only 0.0504s ahead of Mossman and 0.0781s faster than Douglas. Argyros and Musella were separated by 0.0009s in fourth and fifth, both less than 0.118s off Cardenas, and 0.8826s split first and 14th. Douglas and Escorpioni were two of the four drivers who posted personal bests.

It was a similar story in session six, topped by Mossman. He set a 1m20.899s, 0.0324s down on his session four pace, and he denied the improving Argyros first place by 0.0265s.

Once again, multiple drivers needed less than a 0.1s gain to be quickest. Douglas and Escorpioni trailed Mossman by 0.0807s and 0.0868s respectively, Cardenas was 0.224s behind and Manson pipped Michael Costello (Turn 3) to fifth.

Cameron, Jeffers, Evan Cooley and Anthony Martella (both Exclusive) were the only drivers on track in session seven. There was a 0.4213s gap between Cameron and Jeffers in first and second.

Velocity Racing Development has entered a partnership with rival Road to Indy team Pole Position Motorsports.

The two compete against each other in USF Juniors, where VRD ran four cars last year while PPM fielded one. Joao Vergara delivered two wins to VRD and came third in the standings, following up the team’s double title in 2024.

“It is great to have support from PPM,” said Dan Mitchell, VRD’s team principal. “While VRD brings its experience and expertise trackside, it is important to have a reliable source to help drive our VRD Academy and USF Juniors team. Yannick [Rolland] and his team are the perfect candidates, providing us with that support and a much-needed presence in South Florida.”

PPM’s driver Connor Aspley came 13th in the 2025 USF Juniors standings with a best finish of fifth place.

“Partnering with VRD allows us to combine their proven technical excellence and track record with our operational strength, creating a strong foundation for success in the USF Juniors championship,” said PPM’s team principal Yannick Rolland. “Our combined operations will help develop junior drivers into the VRD Academy through our strong Florida-based testing programme.”

VRD competes in third-tier single-seaters, with a GB3 squad in Britain and USF Pro 2000 squad in the USA, and at the two rungs below in USF2000 and USF Juniors. Its USF Juniors cars also run in the YACademy Winter Series, and it fields Formula 4 cars in Formula Fara.

Teddy Musella was USF2000 runner-up with VRD last year, and will now step up to USFP2000 with the team. The 16-year-old took two wins, seven other podiums and two poles in 2025, and in F4 was Ligier Junior Formula champion in 2024.

Ryan Giannetta was one of Musella’s team-mates in USF2000, and after coming 18th in his incomplete rookie campaign with a best finish of eighth the 15-year-old will embark on a sophomore campaign that will include his oval racing debut. He also raced in the YACademy WS for VRD at the start of 2025, and the year before fourth in the F4-spec Skip Barber Formula Race Series.

Brazilian racer Vergara is graduating into VRD’s USF2000 line-up. The 18-year-old was runner-up in Lucas Oil School of Racing’s Formula Car Race Series in 2023, fifth in the YACademy WS and eight in USF Juniors in 2024, and fourth in the YACademy WS in 2025.

Making the same move is Colin Aitken, who contested the last two rounds of the 2025 USF Juniors season with VRD. He finished seventh on debut, and came 21st in the standings. His single-seater career began with the 2023 SBFRS season.

Jack Mohrhardt brings VRD’s USF2000 line-up to four cars, which is the size it has operated at for the last two years.

The 18-year-old was ninth in the 2024 SBFRS points table, then gained further experience of F4 cars last year by joining VRD’s Formula Fara squad.

Turn 3 Motorsport has announced its four-driver line-up for the 2026 USF Pro 2000 season in full.

The Peter Dempsey-owned team will field Michael Costello, Tyke Durst, Brady Golan and Sebastian Manson.

Costello switches from Pabst Racing, who he came seventh in the standings with as a rookie last year. The 19-year-old made the podium twice, including on debut. Prior to that he raced for Jay Howard Driver Development, coming fifth in United States Formula 4 in 2023 then ninth in USF2000’s 2024 season, being a race-winner in both series.

Durst, 22, is embarking on a third USFP2000 campaign with Turn 3. He came 17th as a rookie then 13th last year. Two eighth places are his best results so far.

Golan is also not new to the team, having done a half-season in USFP2000 last year with them. In the Freedom 90, the sole oval race of the season, the 18-year-old started and finished fifth and he ended the year 18th in the points table. He was also a race-winning fifth in Formula Regional Americas, a USF2000 part-timer and a racer of LMP3 prototype sportscars in 2025.

Manson, who hails from New Zealand, has just finished his third season in FRegional Oceania but was a lowly 17th in the standings of his home series. In 2025 he had been sixth with two race victories.

The 17-year-old was NZ Formula FFord and FRegional Japanese Championship runner-up in 2024, and was12th in USFP2000 last year with TJ Speed.

Elsewhere in the USFP2000 paddock, Frankie Mossman has committed to a fourth year and JT Hoskins has joined the grid in a two-year deal.

The IndyCar-supporting third-tier championship has been where the 19-year-old Mossman has raced since August 2023, when he stepped up from US F4.

He did one USF2000 round in 2022, his half-season in US F4 featured two podiums and put him 11th in the standings, and he finished ninth on his USFP2000 debut.

In all three he raced for JHDD, and stayed with the team for the 2024 USFP2000 season. Mossman came eighth in the standings with two podiums, and repeated that in 2025 but after doing the first two rounds with JHDD he switched to Velocity Racing Development’s line-up. He remains with VRD for 2026 and “the mission is to fight for the title”.

Hoskins will race for JHDD by Ed Carpenter Racing, a new alliance between the junior single-seater outfit and the IndyCar team, when he makes two steps up the ladder to USFP2000 this year.

The 17-year-old joined the team for the second half of the 2024 USF Juniors season and came 26th in the standings with no top-10 finishes, then in his full 2025 campaign was 11th in the points table with a best finish of fourth place.

“After 18 months of training under Jay Howard and working with his team, being offered a two-year contract is truly the opportunity of a lifetime,” said Hoskins.

Jacob Douglas will remain with Pabst Racing next year for a USF Pro 2000 title attack.

The 20-year-old Kiwi is currently the highest-placed returnee in the IndyCar support series, having come fifth in his rookie campaign this year. He made the podium on his second start, and went on to take a win and six other podium finishes.

It restored momentum in Douglas’s career after only doing two weekends of racing in 2024, both in Britain’s GB3 championship.

“Going into the 2026 season our goal is to win the championship, and deliver the best performance we can each weekend,” said Douglas. “I can’t wait to get to work and get back on track. I am grateful to Pabst Racing and all of my supporters back home in New Zealand for believing in me.”

The team previously ran Douglas in USF2000, which culminated in his most impressive weekend in the USF Pro championships paddock to date.

Douglas made his USF2000 debut with Exclusive Autosport in 2022, and came 12th in the standings with three top-five finishes. He remained with the team for 2023, starting off by winning the YACademy Winter Series title in the lower-tier USF Juniors car then stepping back up to USF2000.

Despite picking up his maiden podium, Douglas left Exclusive after three rounds and missed the championship’s sole oval race before returning to the grid with Pabst. He finished second on his comeback race, and in the final round at Portland rose from 10th to sixth in the standings as he claimed three poles then won two of the races and was runner-up in the other.

Last week Andersen Promotions, which organises the USF Pro championships, announced the formation of Andersen Racing Imports. It will have an exclusive five-year importer agreement in North America with manufacturer Tatuus, which supplies chassis to Andersen’s championships, which covers cars and parts supplies.

The deal includes “multiple automatic five-year renewals”, which indicates that Tatuus will be contracted to design and build future cars for the third, fourth and fifth tiers of the North American single-seater ladder. The current designs are all variations of the same base chassis, and have been in use for several years.

Carl Haas Automobile Imports previously spent 16 years with the parts supply contract for the USF Pro championships, and Anderson has purchased the cars and parts it still had as well as hiring the company’s two leaders to provide continuity for teams.

Joey Brienza will spend a sixth year with Exclusive Autosport as he embarks on a sophomore USF Pro 2000 campaign in 2026.

The 21-year-old came 11th in the 2025 standings as a rookie, with sixth place his best result. He first raced for Exclusive in the 2021 F1600 Championship Series season. He came fourth in the standings, and fifth the year after.

Brienza switched to slicks-and-wings cars in 2022, doing three USF2000 races and finishing 10th in the third of those. That increased to five races in 2023, with 10th his best result again, then he did a full campaign in 2024 and topped the rookie classification by coming fifth in the standings with four podiums and a pole.

He doubled up in USF Juniors in 2023, which had a productive output of a win, two second places and three poles from the first three races but with only three further podiums slipped down to fifth in the points table.

“I’m very excited to announce that I am back with Exclusive Autosport for the 2026 USFP2000 season,” said Brienza.

“The team has become a family to me, and I am extremely grateful to [team co-owner] Michael Duncalfe and Josh Cooley for their continuous and unwavering support and the privilege to represent Exclusive Autosport.”

Duncalfe said “we are thrilled to have Joey back” and added: “It’s been incredibly rewarding to watch his growth both on and off the track. His work ethic, determination, and positive attitude make him an outstanding representative of our team, and we’re confident he’ll continue to build on the momentum he created last season.”

Stepping up to USFP2000 next year is G3 Argyros, who will be part of Pabst Racing’s line-up.

The 16-year-old came sixth in the YACademy Winter Series and seventh in USF Juniors (which uses the same cars) with Jay Howard Driver Development last year, claiming one podium in the former and three in the latter. He also contested a half-season in USF2000 with JHDD, and winning the year’s final race helped put him 17th in the standings.

For 2025 he joined Pabst to race in USF2000 full-time, and while he did not replicate his winning form he was super consistent and came fourth in the standings with four podiums.

“I’m extremely excited to take this next step with Pabst,” said Argyros of 2026. “Moving up to USFP2000 is a big challenge, but with the team’s support, I know we can fight at the front. The 2025 season gave me a great foundation. We were knocking on the door of wins and now the focus is on using that experience to go for a championship.”

He added that “the USFP2000 car has more power, which really suits my driving style” and “felt comfortable right away” when first sampled it in post-season testing.

“It allows you to take multiple lines and still exit the corners well, which will make the racing even better. Testing in the fall gave me a lot of confidence.”

The 2026 calendars for IndyCar support series USF Pro 2000, USF2000 and USF Juniors have been released.

Third-tier series USFP2000 will start off on the undercard of the Arlington Grand Prix, a new street race in Texas taking place on March 13-15. Fourth-tier USF2000 action will kick off two weeks prior on the streets of St. Petersburg.

The two series head to Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s road course two months later, then have their first oval race (and first race away from IndyCar’s support bill) of 2026 at Lucas Oil Raceway before reuniting again at Road America in June.

The round at Mid-Ohio (July 3-5) is the first time all three Andersen Promotions-run series race together, then August is a packed month. USFP2000 and USF2000 race at Portland, followed by the streets of Markham as it replaces fellow Canadian city Toronto on IndyCar’s calendar, and two weeks after that USFP2000 visits the Milwaukee Mile.

It will mark the first time since 2022 that USFP2000 has had two oval races, and ends a lengthy absence from Milwaukee having previously raced there in 2006, ’09, 2011, ’13 and ’14.

Next year’s racing schedule for the three series concludes at Road America on September 25/26, which will be a standalone event for which USFP2000 will have top billing.

USF Juniors will spend the most time away from IndyCar’s support paddock, as rounds at Homestead-Miami Speedway (February 17/18) and Carolina Motorsports Park (April 17-19) get its season underway. Both circuits are new to the series.

It then heads to Mosport on May 15-17 for a first ever trip to Canada, before joining all of the series above it in the Road to Indy at Mid-Ohio.

Round five is at Lime Rock, another new addition which will be in support of the NASCAR Truck Series, and the season ends at Road America.

Dropping off all three series’ schedules is NOLA Motorsports Park, with USFP2000’s Arlington trip coming at the expense of St. Pete and USF Juniors’ new venues joining as Barber Motorsports Park and Portland are dropped.

There will be a pre-event test day for the events at Homestead, Carolina, Indianapolis, Mosport, Lucas Oil Raceway, Road America, Mid-Ohio and Portland.

The three series will also test together in-season at Mid-Ohio (May 11/12) and Road America (June 10/11) then post-season on Indianapolis’s road course (October 17/18), while USFP2000 and USF2000 will test at Homestead on the same days USF Juniors races there.

USFP2000 and USF2000 will do further in-season testing at Indianapolis (April 15/16) and Lucas Oil Raceway (May 19), there will be a USFP2000-only test at Milwaukee (June 22) and a USF Juniors-only test at Lime Rock (July 7).

Andersen Promotions has also confirmed the prize money allocation for 2026, with the USFP2000 champion earning a $594,500 (£450,862) scholarship to spend on graduating to Indy Nxt. The USF2000 champion wins $405,050 (£307,185), and USF Juniors’ champion takes away $249,675 (£189,351).

Tyre supplier Continental Tire will pay out $53,000 (£40,186) to pole position-winning drivers over the year.

Ed Carpenter Racing has become the latest IndyCar team to join the trend of expanding into junior single-seaters.

Andretti Global and Juncos Hollinger Racing has been long-time Indy Nxt entrants, and in 2022 Dale Coyne Racing joined the grid in association with HMD Motorsports. Chip Ganassi Racing arrived this year, and for 2026 there will be the return of AJ Foyt Racing and arrival of Cusick Morgan Motorsports with HMD’s support, and now ECR.

Its venture into Indy Nxt, which began with yesterday’s post-season test, is in partnership with Indiana-based Cape Motorsports which has already signed Nikita Johnson for 2026.

Cape first appeared in Indy Lights by managing RLR Andersen Racing, an alliance between Dan Andersen and IndyCar team Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, through 2007 and ’08. In 2010 it returned in partnership with Wayne Taylor Racing, and across those three campaigns it contributed to one win and three other podiums.

A permanent Indy Nxt return was made in 2023, which has resulted in two more collaborations with IndyCar teams. A technical partnership meant Cape’s two cars were entered as ‘Andretti Cape’ for the last two seasons, and now it takes on its new partner’s IndyCar colours as it uses the ‘Cape Motorsports powered by ECR’ name.

Over the last three years, Cape has claimed three podiums, and put a car in the top five on the grid three times. With ECR it will “collaborate to provide technical support, testing opportunities for emerging drivers and career development for engineers and mechanics”.

As a driver, ECR owner Ed Carpenter came third in Indy Nxt in 2002 and ’03. Now he will get a taste of the series below it on IndyCar’s support bill — USF Pro 2000, USF2000 and the entry-level USF Juniors — as ECR also partners with Jay Howard Driver Development.

“I’m very excited to bring these highly successful programmes together to create a complete development path through the entire open-wheel ladder system,” said Carpenter.

“As ECR continues to grow and work toward becoming a championship-calibre team, this is an important step forward. This partnership should not only strengthen ECR but also Cape Motorsports and JHDD.”

JHDD ran Christian Rasmussen — now an IndyCar race-winner with ECR — to the 2020 USF2000 title and 2021 USFP2000 crown.

Liam McNeilly narrowly missed out on becoming 2024 USF Juniors champion with JHDD, and they were dominating in USF2000 this year before unexpected visa problems ruled McNeilly out of action.

“Partnering with ECR and JHDD is an incredibly exciting step for Cape Motorsports,” said team co-owners Dominic and Nicholas Cape.

“This collaboration brings together three organizations that share the same passion for discovering and shaping young talent. From karting to IndyCar, we’re building a pathway that gives drivers every opportunity to grow, learn and ultimately succeed at the highest level. For us, it’s about more than just racing, it’s about building the next generation of champions.”

ECR has a driver development programme which Indy Nxt racer Josh Pierson is a member of.

Andres Cardenas was quickest for Jay Howard Driver Development in USF Pro 2000 post-season testing on Indianapolis Motor Speedway’s road course last weekend.

There were three 35-minute sessions on Saturday and three on Sunday, and Exclusive Autosport’s USF2000 champion Jack Jeffers was fastest in the first. He set a 1m21.4442s on his penultimate to lead Pabst Racing’s even later improver G3 Argyros by 0.0272 seconds.

His team-mate Ivan Domingues was third, 0.1016s off, with Mac Clark (Exclusive) and Jacob Douglas (Pabst) also within 0.2s of the pace as a second covered the top 14.

Velocity Racing Development’s Frankie Mossman lowered the pace to 1m21.3462s in session two, leading Jeffers by 0.1168s, Cardenas by 0.1383s and Clark by 0.1519s. This time the top 17 was split by a second, and at JHDD there was a change as JT Hoskins sat out the session and Joao Balesteiro drove.

Day one ended with more improvements, as Eurocup-3 podium-finisher Cardenas moved to the top with a 1m21.1331s. His final lap put him 0.0334s and 0.0422s ahead of Argyros and Douglas, and Turn 3 Motorsport’s Michael Costello trailed by 0.1271s in fourth. Hoskins and Balesteiro swapped again.

The fastest laps of testing came on Sunday morning, with 13 of the 22 drivers present setting their personal bests in session four.

Cardenas posted a 1m20.7744s that would not be be beaten, with a 0.1322s gap at the top to Clark. Mossman was 0.1904s back in third, and Argyros pipped Costello to fourth by 0.0284s. There was only 0.0918s between eighth and 13th place, and at the top of that was group was Euroformula champion Tymek Kucharczyk who had replaced Tyke Durst in one of Turn 3’s cars. A second covered the top 15.

A 1m21.2463s was enough to put Jeffers in first place during session five, and eighth overall in the test, but it took a long time to beat the 1m21.3085s benchmark that Clark had set on just his third lap.

Comet/NCMP Racing’s Logan Adams, Cardenas and Mossman were within 0.2s of Jeffers, and JHDD was running all three of its drivers with Balesteiro the only driver more than a second off the pace.

Three drivers were able to find more pace in the final session, and the quickest of those was Domingues who went fourth fastest and ninth overall. Cardenas set another session-topping time, a 1m21.1009s, edging Douglas by 0.0748s. Argyros was third, 0.1942s off Cardenas and 0.0035s ahead of Domingues.

Max Garcia has explained the key factors that underpinned his run to the USF Pro 2000 title this year as a rookie.

Still only 16, Garcia is set to step up to single-seaters’ second tier in 2026 as the USFP2000 crown earned him a $594,500 (£438,541) scholarship prize to be spent on securing a full-time seat on next year’s Indy Nxt grid.

Although his USFP2000 campaign is wrapped up and there are two races left of Indy Nxt’s season, which are both on ovals and would be invaluable for experience since the lower series only race on one, Garcia will not debut at the next level in 2025.

“I won’t be able to make my Indy Nxt debut this year. For two reasons,” Garcia said in conversation with Formula Scout.

“One, I am still too young to get a license. And two, I would need to do a rookie orientation test on an oval which I have not done [yet].”

Next year will be Garcia’s fourth on the Road to Indy. He graduated from the USA’s junior karting scene to USF2000 in 2023 with Pabst Racing, and missed the first round of the season due to not yet being 14 years old. After finishing sixth on debut, Garcia was a regular in the top 10 and two podiums helped him come ninth in the standings.

He remained in the championship and with Pabst for 2024, which resulted in five victories, five other podiums, seven poles and the title. Garcia clinched it in the penultimate race, and got the job done even earlier in USFP2000.

This year the Pabst driver was crowned with three races to spare, and ended the season with nine victories, four other podiums, nine poles and 12 fastest laps. Only two drivers have more wins than him in USFP2000 this century.

“The key to being good at so many tracks we’ve gone to this year, is being able to communicate very well with my engineer,” explained Garcia. “So he can understand what I mean when I ask for the car to do something a little bit different and maximise the car’s potential at each track.

“The reason I was straight away a contender in USFP000 is because I have experience in a car now. My first year of USF2000 I had never raced a car and I was young and trying to learn the car and procedures that come with racing a car.”

A major contributing element to Garcia’s race-winning form was Pabst, with the car it provided him with and also how it worked with him on race weekends. But he will have to move on from the team next year as it does not compete in Indy Nxt.

“It’s very important to have a good environment around you while you’re trying to perform at the highest level. I think all of us at Pabst have a really good relationship not only at the track but outside of it as well,” Garcia reflected.

Max Garcia ended his title-winning rookie USF Pro 2000 season at Portland with his ninth victory, as Ariel Elkin snatched second in the standings.

The champion started from pole, for the ninth time this year, as his second-best laptime from qualifying earned him first place on the race two grid by 0.0428 seconds over Exclusive Autosport’s Mac Clark.

Velocity Racing Development’s Frankie Mossman was only 0.0526s off pole in third, then 0.0162s split Alessandro de Tullio (Turn 3 Motorsport), Jacob Douglas (Pabst) and Max Taylor (VRD) in the next three places. Taylor was 0.2589s slower than Garcia and the last driver who qualified with a sub-1m08s lap, with TJ Speed’s Elkin next up in seventh.

Clark, who began the race second in the championship, was put on the back foot after attempting to fight Garcia heading into the opening corner. Contact as the field compressed into the corner left Clark with front wing damage and he went a lap down after pitting. But he continued in the pursuit of unlapping himself.

The pace car was brought out on lap eight after TJ Speed’s Miles Bromley went into the turn 11 barriers. Racing resumed on lap 12, only for a turn one incident to trigger another caution period.

Four drivers had attempted to go side-by-side, leading to widespread damage and Turn 3’s Brady Golan going into the barriers. VRD’s Max Taylor was among those caught, and dropped to the back after pitting for repairs.

Racing resumed on lap 16, and this time the field went single file through the first corners.

Garcia was now followed by de Tullio, Elkin, Mossman and the lapped Clark. As Elkin defended against Mossman and Clark, Garcia and de Tullio were able to pull away in the race’s second half and a mistake-free Garcia won by 6.948s.

De Tullio finished over 14s clear of the fight for third, which Douglas joined and a lapped Taylor got involved in.

Clark and Taylor found a way past Mossman, then unlapped themselves on Elkin shortly afterwards as they battled each other for 11th. Taylor won their duel, leaving Clark hoping that Elkin would lose places to be championship runner-up.

Mossman briefly got ahead of Elkin with a move around the outside, only to slip backwards late in the race and finish ninth. Douglas was the next to take on Elkin, and overtook him to complete the podium.

Sebastian Manson could not get close enough to his team-mate to take fourth from him, and Elkin met the chequered flag one point ahead of Clark in the standings.

Exclusive Autosport’s Carson Etter came up behind the TJ Speed drivers late on but had a limited chance of making up further ground after starting 15th. He finished sixth, ahead of DEForce Racing’s Jorge Garciarce and Turn 3’s early pitter Tyke Durst.

Joey Brienza had an eventful race. The Exclusive Autosport driver was in the incident that caused the second caution period, then after serving a drive-through penalty finished 10th.
