TMG Racing’s Heitor Dall’Agnol became 2025 Brazilian Formula 4 champion at Interlagos this weekend.

The season finale began with free practice on Friday, the day after the previous round concluded, and the returning Rafaela Ferreira set the pace by 0.342 seconds over Cavaleiro Sports team-mate Alceu Feldmann Neto. FP1 pacesetter Alexandre Louza, another Cavaleiro driver, was 0.583s back in third.

Qualifying was later that day in trickier track conditions, and Feldmann topped the timesheet to claim race three pole. The title contenders Murilo Rocha (TMG Racing), Pedro Lima (Bassani Racing) and Dall’Agnol were next up, trailing by 0.126s, 0.336s and 0.364s respectively. Ferreira and Louza ended up being the slowest two.

On second-best laptimes, Feldmann earned race one pole by just 0.016s over Rocha, with Dall’Agnol 0.444s back in third. Lima qualified fourth, narrowly ahead of TMG’s Filippo Fiorentino.

The track was very wet for race one on Saturday, and the safety car led the first two laps. Fiorentino got spun around to the back at turn two by Bassani’s Renzo Barbuy on lap two but reclaimed his starting spot before green flags waved.

The top four held their positions as racing began, and gradually spread out. Feldmann initially had a pace advantage, then Rocha was quicker later on but finished 0.933s behind. Dall’Agnol was crowned champion by finishing third.

On lap four, Fiorentino ran wide and lost fifth to Barbuy. However Barbuy then went off at turn one on lap six and was overtaken by TMG’s Cadi Baptista. Fiorentino stole the fastest lap from Rocha on the last lap, while Barbuy was overtaken around the outside of turn one on successive laps by TMG’s Marcelo Hahn and Bassani’s Pedro Lins.

Further back, there was drama mid-race as Cavaleiro’s Enrico Abreu spun around Bassani’s Christian Helou, which led to Ferreira going into the barriers and losing her front wing. Abreu was handed a drive-through penalty.

The track was still damp on Sunday, but the field opted for slick tyres for the reversed-grid race two.

Lins started on pole and led lights-to-flag. On lap one, contact sent Barbuy into a roll in which he lost his rear wing. When racing resumed on lap four, Lins was immediately under attack from Hahn. There was also a fight for third in which Lima lost his front wing, had a turn four off and ended up pitting.

Fiorentino took third ahead of Feldmann and Cavaleiro’s Rogerio Grotta, with Feldmann launching a failed attack into turn four on lap six and instead losing out to Grotta.

However with Feldmann consistently being the fastest driver on track he still made his way up the order. He cleared Grotta on lap nine, and went around the outside of Fiorentino through turn four on lap 11. By the end he was with Hahn, and only missed out on second by 0.047s.

Fiorentino came under pressure from Grotta on lap 12, who ran alongside him all the way from turn 12 to the next lap where the overtake was completed. Baptista and Abreu were then immediatelu on Fiorentino’s tail, and he just held them off.

Dall’Agnol and Lima finished 11th and 13th after getting drive-through penalties.

Race three began with a lap behind the safety car as puddles remained, and at turn one on lap two a collision broke off Fiorentino’s front-right wheel, sent Grotta spinning out and meant the safety car was back out before lap three.

Despite marshals clearing the crashed vehicles quickly, racing did not resume until lap six. It was quiet up front thereon, with Feldmann winning ahead of Rocha and Lima.

Drama ramped up late on, with Lins taking fifth from Barbuy into turn four. At turn eight, Dall’Agnol sent Barbuy spinning then drove over the front of his car and Pietro Mesquita had to go off in avoidance so lost out to Hahn.

On the last lap Hahn overtook Barbuy at turn one, but Barbuy nosed back ahead through turns four and five. At turn nine Han drove into him and it copped him a five-second penalty, while Dall’Agnol got a 20s penalty.

Murilo Rocha won twice in the penultimate round of the Brazilian Formula 4 season at Interlagos.

The round was originally scheduled to take place at Brasilia on November 29/30, but was relocated and postponed at short notice.

It was a busy Wednesday, with two practice sessions, qualifying and race one. In practice, Cavaleiro Sports’ Alceu Feldmann Neto set the pace by 0.153 seconds over Rocha, who had swapped from Bassani Racing to TMG Racing. Bassani’s Renzo Barbuy was third, 0.23s behind.

Rocha moved to the top in qualifying, earning race three pole by 0.146s. Heitor Dall’Agnol and Pietro Mesquita completed a TMG 1-2-3 covered by 0.267s, and Cavaleiro’s Rogerio Grotta pipped Feldmann to fourth by 0.005s.

Points leader Dall’Agnol’s closest title rival and team-mate Filippo Fiorentino was 1.371s off the pace, leaving him 14th.

On second-best laptimes, Rocha took race one pole by 0.18s over Dall’Agnol, with Mesquita 0.522s behind in third and 0.053s ahead of Feldmann. Fiorentino was slowest of all in the 16-car field.

Rocha lost the lead off the line to Dall’Agnol at the start of race one, and at turn four Mesquita went around the outside of him too. Mesquita then attacked the new leader, who responded with fastest laps. On lap five his lead suddenly grew as technical trouble led to Mesquita slowing and having to pit.

Rocha inherited second, 1.1s behind, with Feldmann and the fast-starting Pedro Lima further back. The gap between the two gradually decreased, and they began lap 17 side-by-side. Dall’Agnol kept the lead through the first two corners but then went over the kerbs too roughly and Rocha snatched a position he would not give up.

Lima was on Feldmann’s gearbox by lap 10, and tried passing around the outside ar turn one on lap 14. He locked up, Feldmann locked up too and slid into Lima. The slightest contact sent him spinning, and he lost third.

Fiorentino took two laps to enter the top 10, made it to fifth on lap seven and stayed there for the rest of the race. He slipped to fourth in the standings though, with Lima becoming Dall’Agnol’s main title rival.

Grotta finished eighth, putting him on reversed-grid pole for race two on Thursday. TMG’s Cadi Baptista started alongside him but stalled, and Bassani’s Ciro Sobral clouted Baptista with his rear-left wheel. The safety car was summoned to clear their cars, then red flags waved on lap three.

TMG Racing’s Marcelo Hahn had taken second off the line, but Fiorentino overtook him before racing was neutralised.

The race restarted behind the safety car for one lap (which counted as lap three), then nine laps of green flag action remained.

Pedro Lins drove into the rear of Bassani team-mate Christian Helou on lap four, copping himself a drive-through penalty and enough damage to require retiring, and on lap five Fiorentino tried passing Grotta for the lead around the outside of turn one. He slid over turn two’s kerbs and Lima got involved.

Fiorentino got past Grotta later in the lap, but both were overtaken by Lima who then pulled away to win. Hahn finished fourth, and in a distant fifth Feldmann held off a train of cars including Dall’Agnol in eighth.

Race three was absolutely full of wheel-to-wheel action, but Rocha scarcely saw it as he pulled two seconds clear in two laps and went on to win by 5.482s. Mesquita started strongly to take second, then had Feldmann and Dall’Agnol on his gearbox until both got past on lap three.

Dall’Agnol pressured Feldmann a lot late on and finished 0.361s behind to move one step closer to the title.

The battling outside the top five was so constant that Baptista finished 23s behind Rocha in sixth. For lap after lap he fought with Grotta, but in the end it was a charging Lins who he held off. Fiorentino’s title hopes ended in 12th place.

Brazilian Formula 4 supported Formula 1’s Sao Paulo Grand Prix at Interlagos last weekend with a trophy round.

In practice on Friday morning, TMG Racing’s Filippo Fiorentino set a 1m36.502s to pip Cavaleiro Sports’ Ethan Nobels to top spot by 0.054 seconds. Bassani Racing’s Pedro Lins and Pedro Lima were split by 0.35s in third and fourth.

Qualifying was at the end of the day, with drivers’ second-best laptimes setting race one’s grid and fastest laps setting race three’s grid.

Fiorentino was quickest again, improving to 1m36.299s to top the timesheet by 0.169s. Lima was second, 0.011s ahead of TMG’s Pietro Mesquita, and team-mate Cadi Baptista trailed by 0.215s. Nobels was fifth, 0.241s off pole, and a second covered the top 14.

On second-best laptimes, Fiorentino earned pole by 0.215s over Baptista and 0.24s over Mesquita. Nobels was fourth, 0.328s back, and Lima qualified fifth.

The next morning, drivers faced a wet track for race one and Fiorentino led lights-to-flag. He had a 0.811s gap after lap one, then Mesquita closed in on lap two. That was as far as his challenge went, as Fiorentino pulled away in all but one of the remaining laps.

Fiorentino won by 5.983s, with Nobels initially on Mesquita’s tail then losing out to Lima. He got back past on lap four, and did not let Mesquita escape as he took second from him on lap eight.

Lins rose from eighth to sixth on lap one, overtook Baptista on lap three then Lima on lap five to finish a lonely fourth, with Lima dropping down to 14th while Baptista’s pace left him sixth.

Race two was in the late afternoon, and only ran for six laps due to two big crashes. On lap one, Nobels was spun at turn seven and then hit from the side by team-mate Joao Paulo Sanzovo. Both were hospitalised.

There was a delay before racing continued, and on lap six another crash meant time ran out on the race clock.

Cavaleiro’s Elias Barbosa dived into turn one and went spinning, and behind him was Bassani’s Ciro Sobral who had to back off slightly. Entering the corner with more speed were TMG’s Federico Diaz and Naim Saleh.

Diaz locked up and aimed for the inside so not to hit Sobral, but Saleh was already to his inside and also locking up. Saleh’s front-right wheel hit Diaz’s rear-left and it sent him flying over Diaz’s car, before bouncing off the top of it, rolling over Sobral’s and spinning into the runoff after landing.

Once his car had been hit, Diaz crashed into Sobral and sent him spinning. The trio were hospitalised, with Nobels, Saleh and Sanzovo ruled out for the next day.

Sobral had started from reversed-grid pole after finishing eighth in race one, but fell down the order as Cavaleiro’s Rafaela Ferreira came from fourth on the grid to win. Fiorentino and Lima completed the podium.

Race three took place on a wet track on Sunday morning, and Fiorentino led lights-to-flag again to secure the ‘F4 Interlagos Grand Prix’ title. Lima was second throughout, Mesquita was third and Ferreira took fourth place mid-race.

Heitor Dall’Agnol grew his Brazilian Formula 4 lead in back-to-back rounds at Autodromo Velo Citta.

The first, postponed from June 27-29 to September 26-28, was Dall’Agnol’s first winless event but he was top scorer.

He was fourth in practice, with Alceu Feldmann Neto topping both sessions and leading Ethan Nobels by 0.816 seconds.

In sixth was Pedro Lima, 1.133s off the pace, but in qualifying he set the weekend’s fastest two laps. His best effort, a 1m26.25s, earned him race three pole by 0.118s over Dall’Agnol, with Pedro Lins a further 0.046s back and Feldmann 0.189s off pole in fourth. Half a second split the top 10, and there was less than a second between first and last.

Drivers’ second-best laptimes set race one’s grid, and a 1m26.29s earned Lima pole by 0.173s over Dall’Agnol. Lins was 0.223s off in third.

There were two stallers in race one, and Lima started so slowly he dropped to ninth. Dall’Agnol streaked into the lead, as Filippo Fiorentino leapt from sixth to second and Feldmann climbed two spots to third but then had a queue of cars behind.

Lins pressured him continually, and on lap eight when finally attempting a move there was contact and he spun. He continued in 12th, at which point Lima had recovered to seventh.

Lima began lap nine pushing Rogerio Grotta down the pit straight before passing, then gained another spot as Dall’Agnol served a drive-through penalty for being out of position on the grid and fell to 11th.

Fiorentino inherited the lead, which grew to 13.678s as Feldmann locked up most laps under pressure but did not concede second. Murilo Rocha began attacking him on lap 11, and when Ciro Sobral went off on lap 12 when trying to join in it put Lima into fourth. Lins’ own recovery drive ended on lap 16 of 22 as Cadi Baptista locked up ahead and he broke his front wing driving over the back of his car.

Lima joined Rocha in pressuring Feldmann from lap 17 onwards, and when he dived past Rocha around the outside on lap 20 it allowed Feldmann to get a gap. Rocha then had to work hard to fend off Dall’Agnol and Pietro Mesquita, before reclaiming third when Lima was penalised 20s for a false start.

Lins and Lima started 13th and 15th for the reversed-grid race two, with Grotta on pole. Sobral started third and tried attacking Grotta at the start, unsuccessfully, then later went for a diving move on Renzo Barbuy for second but that also failed.

Grotta sprinted off and won by 6.082s, with second place changing hands on lap 11 of 15 as Barbuy put a wheel on the grass then went off when he reached the next corner and after rejoining dropped to seventh.

Sobral and Dall’Agnol inherited second and third, with Celo Hahn fourth after passing Mesquita a few laps earlier. Christian Helou was next to pressure Mesquita, and finally made a move stick on the last lap. Nobels followed him through a few corners later.

Lima led race three lights-to-flag, initially building a 1.65s lead before Dall’Agnol closed back in. On lap 17 of 22 he was onto Lima’s tail, and tried passing on the outside of turn one on lap 20 after Lima defended. He got alongside again approaching the chequered flag, finishing 0.053s behind.

Feldmann lost third mid-race, dropping behind Rocha, Fiorentino and Mesquita. He attempted getting back past Mesquita on lap 14, which brought Nobels onto their tail, and on lap 15 had a go at turn one then nailed a pass into the downhill section. However he later spun there on lap 20.

Lins passed Mesquita for what would become sixth, with the latter later retiring with a puncture. That brought Feldmann back up to eighth, behind Enricco Abreu and far ahead of the continuous squabbles for the lower positions.

In round four last weekend, Feldmann led Lima in practice then Fiorentino topped qualifying. A 1m26.417s earned him race three pole by 0.047s over Dall’Agnol, with Lins 0.085s off pole. Lima and Rocha were within 0.2s of Fiorentino, with half a second covering the top 10.

On second-best laptimes, a 1m26.476s put Dall’Agnol on race one pole by 0.042s. Fiorentino, Lins and Lima were all within 0.087s of him, and Rocha pipped Nobels to fifth by 0.007s.

There was drama on race one’s opening lap as Helou made a lunge on Hahn that led to him riding some kerbs, spinning Hahn, riding the rear of his car, retiring, then being disqualified.

The safety car was summoned, and after the lap three restart Dall’Agnol gradually pulled away to win by 3.758s. Fiorentino was initially under pressure for second, and was warned for changing direction under braking, but was able to shake off Lins and Lima late on.

Feldman was seventh until an off and then a spin on lap five, then spun again on lap 16 of 21. Grotta benefitted to move up to eighth, but on lap 20 lost the place to a switchback move at turn one from Baptista. Barbuy divebombed him there on the last lap, but went off and dropped to 11th.

Abreu took the lead from reversed-grid poleman Baptista off the line in race two, then covered the outside and Baptista drove back past into turn one. Nobels and Lima got through a few corners later.

The safety car appeared on lap five due to Barbuy being spun out on the pit straight by Mesquita, who was disqualified, and Lins spun out of fifth when the field returned to racing speeds. After the restart, Grotta was disqualified for moving across on Helou and crashing him out, and Baptista cruised to victory.

Lima passed Nobels on the restart lap, Rocha cleared him on lap 11 and Abreu did on lap 13. At the end of that lap, Rocha saw a gap and got on the inside of Lima for second.

Lins went down the inside of Fiorentino for the lead into the opening corner of race three, but it left room for Dall’Agnol to go inside of both on the exit and move ahead. Lima also overtook Fiorentino, then the top three spread out.

Fiorentino was left fending off Feldmann and Nobels through the race’s second half, and Feldmann’s failed passing attempt on the penultimate lap gave Nobels a chance to snatch fifth.

Heitor Dall’Agnol streaked into the Brazilian Formula 4 points lead with a win and two other podiums in round two at Autodromo Velo Citta last week.

His TMG Racing team-mate Filippo Fiorentino was comfortably quickest by 0.755 seconds in free practice one, and Bassani Racing’s debuting Renzo Barbuy reduced his advantage to 0.643s in FP2.

Dall’Agnol was third, then moved to the top in qualifying. He set a 1m25.967s to claim race three pole by 0.549s, with Bassani’s Pedro Lima second fastest. There was a smaller gap between Lima and Cavaleiro Sports’ Bernardo Gentil in 13th, and 10 drivers were within a second of Dall’Agnol’s pace. Fiorentino was third fastest, ahead of team-mate Pietro Mesquita and Bassani’s Pedro Lins. Cavaleiro’s points leader Ethan Nobels struggled for pace, qualifying 14th.

Drivers’ second-best laptimes set race one’s grid, and Dall’Agnol comfortably claimed pole. This time he had a 0.519s advantage over Fiorentino, with Lima a further 0.02s behind and Nobels 14th again.

Fiorentino went side-by-side with him into the opening corner of the race, but he stayed ahead. There was chaos mid-lap as Mesquita spun around TMG’s Ciro Sobral, and the safety car was called on lap two.

Racing resumed on lap four and Mesquita had another incident, this time with TMG’s Celo Hahn at turn one, and the safety car was needed again. There was almost another crash before the lap seven restart, and Fiorentino locked up into turn one but pulled off a switchback move for the lead.

He buit a 1.5s gap, but Dall’Agnol homed back in at race-end and finished 0.544s behind. Lima was a very distant third, and following the restart Cavaleiro’s Rogerio Grotta charged up to fourth. The battle of the race was for sixth, with Nobels pressuring Lins throughout. They made contact, there was briefly a four-car fight, and Nobels finally got ahead with a turn one dive on the penultimate lap.

Gentil stalled from reversed-grid pole in race two, so Lins led the field into turn one. Bassani’s Murilo Rocha slotted into second, and Nobels was a distant third after the first lap. Fiorentino and Dall’Agnol were next up, and deep in battle.

Dall’Agnol got ahead mid-race, then cleared Nobels. The top two were several seconds up the road, but he was able to turn it into a three-car lead fight late on. He dived down Rocha’s inside at turn one on the final lap and they went side-by-side for several corners. Once ahead, he then had to get defensive to hold second as Lins ran away.

Despite a slow launch, Dall’Agnol was able to keep the lead at the start of race three while Fiorentino went past Lima for second at turn one. Lima drove into the rear of his rival later in lap one, but he got back ahead as Dall’Agnol pulled away.

There was 6.5s between first and second by the finish, with a further 15s to Fiorentino. Most of the battling was outside of the top 10, with Hahn holding off several drivers for a chunk of the race despite an off. Eventually a bigger error sent him across the grass and down the order.

Matheus Comparatto and Alvaro Cho won the Brazilian Formula 4 races on the support bill of Formula 1’s Sao Paulo Grand Prix.

The initial schedule for the weekend had practice and qualifying taking place on Friday, race one running on Saturday morning, race two following at the end of the day and then race three concluding the morning action at Interlagos on Sunday.

Bassani Racing’s Matheus Comparatto was fastest in the 40-minute practice session, setting a 1m35.893s to lead Cavaleiro Sports’ Ethan Nobels by 0.041 seconds around what is a short lap. Rogerio Grotta was third, 0.237s off the top, and Filippo Fiorentino was fourth.

The sky became cloudy ahead of qualifying, and there was an early red flag interruption caused by TMG Racing’s Fiorentino going off. His team-mate Celo Hahn caused another stoppage later on, leaving just four minutes on the clock when the next restart occurred.

TMG’s Alvaro Cho looked to have secured pole for race three as qualifying entered its final momnets, but Nobels then managed to set a 1m34.902s that put him ahead by 0.122s. Pepe Souza (Cavaleiro), Comparatto and Ciro Sobral (TMG) completed the top five.

Drivers’ second-best laptimes set the race one grid, and Nobels again clinched pole. A 1m35.029s earned him to spot by 0.169s over Souza, with Cho a further 0.036s slower and TMG’s Arthur Pavie in fourth.

Race one did go ahead as planned, and Nobels started well but could not keep the lead for long. Souza snuck past, then Nobels reclaimed first place before the end of the opening lap. Cho later cleared Souza and set about pressuring Nobels, eventually spending half a lap going side-by-side with him. At one point it got too close and they collided, with damage to both cars and the safety car being summoned.

Souza moved back ahead for the restart, ahead of Grotta and Comparatto. It did not take long for points leader Comparatto to get into second, then at the race’s halfway point he took the lead. The top two was set from that point, while Bassani’s Gino Trappa passed Grotta then tried to stay with the leaders.

Fiorentino recovered from his disastrous qualifying to finish fifth, a position he had to battle past Cho for.

A storm hit Sao Paulo on Saturday afternoon, flooding parts of the Interlagos track and causing a reworking of the event schedule. Brazilian F4’s second race was cancelled, with race three moved to earlier in the morning on Sunday to avoid another storm that was due.

However it was still raining when drivers returned to track, and race three began behind the safety car. When green flag action began, Cho passed Nobels for the lead and was pulling away when the safety car neutralised racing action again due to Sobral, Trappa and Cecilia Rabelo going off.

There was only seven minutes when racing got going again, and Comparatto conceded third to Souza by going off. Cho and Nobels fought hard in the rain, and were split by 0.797s at the finish. Comparatto later got back into third, but was then disqualified over technical irregularities.

Brazilian Formula 4 held its first ever international round at Buenos Aires in Argentina last weekend.

For the fifth time in five rounds this season there were three different winners: Arthur Pavie and Rafaela Ferreira won the first two first races on Friday and Saturday, and Ethan Nobels was victorious on Sunday.

The championship lead, however, remains in the hands of Bassani Racing’s Matheus Comparatto who on 198 points is 16 ahead of TMG Racing’s Alvaro Cho.

On Friday, TMG’s Pavie and Cavaleiro Sports’ Nobels held a tight fight in qualifying. Pavie secured pole position for race one, and Nobels did the same for race three.

Nobels set a 1m39.941s, just 0.016 seconds faster than Pavie, and on the second-best laptimes Pavie pipped Nobels by 0.172s. He converted his race one pole into a lights-to-flag victory, his second consecutive win.

Alceu Feldmann Neto, who ahead of the weekend had switched from Bassani to Cavaleiro, had reversed-grid pole for race two which was the 50th race in Brazilian F4 history.

He lost the lead to TMG’s Ferreira before reaching the first corner, and she opened up a comfortable lead even before a late safety car deployment and won the race, with Rogerio Grotta in second and Ciro Sobral in third.

Nobels led from start to finish in race three, finishing more than nine seconds ahead of Ferreira. Cho completed the podium, and points leader Comparatto was only eighth.

The next round of Brazilian F4 will be at Interlagos on November 2/3 and support Formula 1’s Sao Paulo Grand Prix.

Brazilian Formula 4 had 12 cars on track at Autodromo Velo Citta for round three after a two-month break, and Rafaela Ferreira made history as the championship’s first female winner.

The weekend had lots going for it: a series veteran returning, pole positions claimed by tiny margins and of course Ferreira’s victory.

Alvaro Cho, who missed round two, topped qualifying to take race three pole by 0.018 seconds over TMG Racing team-mate Arthur Pavie. Bassani Racing’s points leader Matheus Comparatto was third, 0.048s, and Ferreira was 0.053s off pole in fourth.

Comparatto claimed race one pole with his second-best laptime by an even tighter margin, 0.004s, and converted it into victory after leading all but one lap.

Pavie jumped pat Cho at the start and tried to attack Comparatto through the early laps. Genaro Trappa also had a good launch, going from fifth to third. But Comparatto had the race under control won ahead of Pavie.

Starting third was rookie Ethan Nobels, who had the best reaction when the lights went out but then found the back of Chovand they had light contact. After going four-wide move into the opening corner with Lucca Zucchini and Nobels, he fell to fifth. His Cavaleiro Sports-run car seemed to have no problem, as he managed to overtake Zucchini and Trappa during the race to finish third.

Trappa and Guilherme Favarete came home fourth and fifth. Cecilia Rabelo met the checkered flag in eighth, but got a 10s penalty due to a last lap incident with Rogerio Grotta. So reverse-grid pole for race two was inherited by Ferreira.

She had an strong start jump to that race, as did Cho from third. Ferreira shook off her team-mate then, and also on a restart after a brief safety car period. Nobels settling for third behind them, and ahead of Comparatto and Trappa.

Race three had Cho, Pavie, Comparatto, Ferreira and Nobels in the top five spots. The podium trio had good starts, keeping their positions. Rafaela however tried the outside line at turn one, loosing ground to Nobels and Trappa, who started from row three.

An early incident between Rabelo and Zucchini prompted a safety car period. Cho kept his nerves on the lap five restart and led all the way.

Pavie tried following and managed to get within 0.5s of him late on on, but Cho was unstoppable for his second win of 2024. Comparatto was third throughout, figuring that it was the best suitable outcome to his title hopes, as his lead grew back to 40 points over fourth-placed Nobels who managed to neutralise an attack from Trappa on lap six.

Ciro Sobral was clever to overtake Trappa after their failed attack on Nobels. He than defended well from Ferreira, who climbed back the field after her initial drop.

Sobral and Ferreira had last lap contact, with the later losing her spoiler while Sobral still finished fifth.

Brazilian Formula 4 headed to Interlagos for round two of the season, and with pre-event points leader Alvaro Cho absent it guaranteed a new name ended the weekend on top.

All three of the races had close fights from start to finish, and some impressive milestones were reached.

TMG Racing’s Rafaela Ferreira claimed both pole positions in Friday’s qualifying session and became the second woman in series history to qualify at the front as Bassani Racing Cecilia Rabelo did the same at Interlagos latst year.

Ferreira could not convert pole in race one (the 40th race since the series’ creation in 2022) into victory, but by finishing second behind Filippo Fiorentino (who replaced Cho at TMG) she became the first ever woman to lead the championship.

Fiorentino had got a better jump off line, and managed to overtake Ferreira and Matheus Comparatto. Lucca Zucchini then got past Comparatto to finish third, with the latter settling for fourth while racing with an alternative tyre strategy.

Ciro Sobral started at the head of the field on race two’s reversed grid, but Argentinian racer Gino Trappa had a better jump to take a lead which he never gave up to became the first ever foreigner to win a Brazilian F4 race. Comparatto made a accurate move when lights came out, jumping from fifth to third. He than advanced to second and started chasing his Bassani Racing team-mate.

But Trappa also had better tyre life and Comparatto could not risk his race, as second place was good enough to take the points lead. Ferreira had an early scramble with Zucchini, and both were forced to climb up the field. Cavaleiro Sports’ rookie Rogerio Grotta came home third, with Fiorentino and Ethan Nobels rounding out the top five.

Ferreira finished eighth after being penalised for the Zucchini incident and one with Nobels, but was back on pole for race three. Comparatto had a better jump from the front row though, passing her before turn one.

When Fiorentino tried to clear Ferreira at turn four, they made contact and he went into the barriers while she got a drive-through penalty.

There was a brief safety car period, and Comparatto held on to the lead after. Although Ferreira passed him a few laps later, he was back ahead once her penalty was served. Zucchini was penalised for jumping the restart, demoting him to last.

Comparatto won, with Nobels and Trappa completing the podium.

Brazilian Formula 4 made a second visit to Autodromo Velo Citta for round four, and drivers were much closer to each other than in the inaugural round there in May.

Full Time Sports’ Pedro Clerot, Cavaleiro Sports’ Nicolas Giaffone and TMG Racing’s Lucas Staico took wins home, making it the first round with three different teams earning a victory.

As in the first visit to Velo Citta, Staico dominated qualifying, claiming poles for races one and three. Points leader Clerot made the front row for both races, with Vinicius Tessaro and Ricardo Gracia making it onto row two.

As the lights went out for race one, Clerot had a nicer getaway than Staico to pass him before turn one while Tessaro stalled and fell to last. Staico then ended up fourth after a turn one scuffle involving three cars. After a quick safety car intervention, the field was set with Clerot leading Luan Lopes and Gracia.

Clerot then managed to open a gap and take his sixth win of 2022, as Staico passed Gracia on lap 10 and then rose rose back to second with a penultimate lap pass on Lopes.

Giaffone started on reversed grid pole for race two, ahead of Felipe Barrichello Bartz and Fernando Barrichello who got the best start from third. He passed his cousin and tried a move on his other cousin Giaffone before turn one, but the poleman closed the door on him.

Barrichello, son of Rubens, then lost momentum and that allowed Barrichello Bartz to pass him back. The three finished in the same order as they started, making it a family celebration at the podium.

Staico finally made it stick from pole and led all laps in race three. Clerot tried to pose a challenge in the early laps, but could not match Staico’s pace in the second half of the race and had to make a huge effort to defend second place from Tessaro during the last three laps.
