Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak will make his Formula 2 debut in this weekend’s season finale at Yas Marina Circuit.

The 20-year-old Thai was announced last month as stepping up to the championship in 2026 with ART Grand Prix, and will now get some crucial race experience in the Dallara F2 2024 car.

He will replace James Wharton in Trident’s line-up, after the Australian made his debut last weekend at Losail in a one-off. Wharton was 21st in qualifying, retired from the sprint race following a collision and was a penalised 19th in the feature race.

“I’m really excited to be racing in the final round of the F2 championship with Trident,” said Inthraphuvasak.

“It’s a great opportunity, and I want to thank everyone who made it possible. I’m looking forward to making the most of this weekend and preparing as best I can for next season.”

Inthraphuvasak began this year with a cameo in the Eurocup-3 winter series, with his results putting him 14th in the standings, then he embarked on a sophomore campaign in the FIA Formula 3 Championship. After scoring only three times in the season’s first half, Inthraphuvasak went on to win three races and rose to seventh in the points table.

Last month he joined Trident for the FIA Formula Regional World Cup-awarding Macau Grand Prix, qualifying 12th, finishing the qualification race in 13th and the main race in 16th.

“We are pleased to be able to field Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak in the final round of the F2 season,” said Trident’s team manager Giacomo Ricci.

“I consider him one of the most talented drivers we have seen in the FIA F3 Championship this year. We had the opportunity to see Tasanapol’s skills in the Macau GP, where he raced with us and immediately proved to be fast and competitive. Although he is making his debut in the category, I am sure he can also do well on the Yas Marina circuit.”

FIA Formula 3 race-winner Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak will step up to Formula 2 next year, joining the ART Grand Prix team.

The 20-year-old Thai graduates to Formula 1’s primary feeder series after a sophomore FIA F3 Championship campaign that ended with him jumping from 14th to seventh in the standings.

He only scored three times in the season’s first half, but won three times in the second half. That included victory in the Monza season finale, the first time he had finished in the top six of a feature race and only the third time he had scored in one across his two years with AIX Racing and then Campos Racing.

“I’m very proud to finally announce that I will be joining ART GP for my rookie season in F2,” said Inthraphuvasak.

“The team has proven over the years with its great successes, so I’m confident it’s the right environment for me to take this next step. I’m excited to start this new chapter and to work with everyone in the team ahead of the season.”

Last weekend Inthraphuvasak stepped down the single-seater ladder to Formula Regional to compete in the Macau Grand Prix, a key event for gaining street circuit experience ahead of racing in F2. He finished the grand prix in 16th place.

“Tasanapol delivered a solid season in FIA F3, with three wins and some strong performances,” ART GP’s team principal Sebastien Philippe said. “He now has the opportunity to take on the next step in F2, and we look forward to seeing how he adapts to this new challenge.”

The full entry list for the 2025 Macau Grand Prix has been published, with 27 drivers lining up to win the second edition of the FIA Formula Regional World Cup.

Two-time grand prix winner Charles Leong is returning with Prema, last year’s winning team team R-ace GP is returning with three FRegional frontrunners, while Pinnacle Motorsport, Sainteloc Racing and TOM’S are all entering two cars each.

The other five teams — ART Grand Prix, Evans GP, PHM Racing, Trident and Van Amersfoort Racing — are all fielding three-car line-ups.

ART GP will run its FRegional European Championship line-up of Evan Giltaire, Taito Kato and Kanato Le, who sit sixth, ninth and 14th in the standings there with one round to go. Giltaire and Le drove for the team in Macau last year, with both retiring.

Evans GP will field Hiyu Yamakoshi, 16th in FRegional Middle East at the start of this year and currently eighth in FREC, alongside teenaged brothers Charlie and Oscar Wurz.

Charlie, the older of the two, has spent three years in single-seaters’ third tier and took two FIA Formula 3 Championship podiums this season. He entered Macau in 2023, and retired.

Oscar, the 2024 Formula 4 Central European Zone champion, was 14th in Eurocup-3’s winter series at the start of 2025 and is currently 18th in the main championship. He will miss the season finale since both it and the Macau GP take place on November 14-16.

PHM Racing has signed Euroformula title contender Jose Garfias, Eurocup-3 champion and Eurocup-3 winter series runner-up Mattia Colnaghi and FREC part-timer and FRegional Oceania points-scorer Enzo Yeh. Colnaghi was classified 14th in the 2024 Macau GP.

Noah Stromsted and Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak, who both won races en route to sixth and seventh in the FIA F3 Championship this year, will drive for Trident alongside Reza Seeworuthun. He is contending to become GB3 runner-up at Monza this weekend

Completing the grid with VAR are Euroformula points leader Tymek Kucharczyk, FRegional Japanese Championship leader Kiyoshi Umegaki and Newman Chi. He will be the least experienced driver in the grand prix, having spent less than a year in car racing so far.

In that time the 16-year-old from mainland China has come fifth in the United Arab Emirates-based Formula Trophy and Italian F4, and ninth in F4 Middle East. He has FRegional experience from two FREC outings.

Campos Racing snatched the FIA Formula 3 teams’ title with a one-two finish in a frantic last race of the season, which Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak won ahead of Nikola Tsolov.

Trident led the standings by 16 points coming into the race but was forced to concede its crown despite drivers’ champion Rafael Camara charging from 30th to fifth.

Brad Benavides kept the lead from pole position at the start ahead of Ugo Ugochukwu, while Inthraphuvasak would move up to third past Noel Leon by cutting across the inside of the Roggia chicane.

Trident’s hopes took a hit when its highest-placed stater Charlie Wurz sustained damage in the Roggia chicane and had to stop, triggering a safety car. Tim Tramnitz’s chances of finishing as runner-up – which were already distant after a penalty stripped him of Saturday’s sprint race victory – took a further hit when he had to pit for a new front wing.

At the restart, Ugochukwu challenged Benavides, who went deep and off-track at Roggia and was told by his engineer to give the place up. He did so into the Parabolica, and then slipstreamed back in front down the pit straight. Inthraphuvasak followed him past, only for Ugochukwu to take second back into Roggia.

A second safety car followed after debutant Fernando Barrichello spun into the gravel trap at Ascari. Ugochukwu would do exactly the same out of second place on the restart, losing control on gravel that was still on the kerb.

In the meantime, Inthraphuvasak had appeared to give up positions to Tsolov and Leon, meaning stewards would take no further action for gaining an advantage off-track on the first lap.

Tsolov went on to take the lead two laps after the subsequent restart, only for Benavides to snatch it back around the outside at the Roggia. Inthraphuvasak would take second back from Tsolov a couple of laps later.

With six laps to go, Inthraphuvasak went around the outside of Benavides into the first corner to take the lead with Tsolov following him past.

The Campos duo remained in formation to the end, with Inthraphuvasak sealing his third win in four rounds and first in a feature race, while second for Tsolov was good enough for him to clinch the same position in the championship ahead of his team-mate Mari Boya, who could only finish ninth. Leon denied Benavides a podium finish in third.

Like Camara, Noah Stromsted also tried to fight back for Trident after starting 19th, getting into a fight for fifth with Tuukka Taponen that ended up with both running through the Ascari gravel trap with seven laps to go.

That incident helped Camara make it up to sixth and he completed his charge with a late dive on Roman Bilinski that caused the sprint race winner to take to the Roggia escape road and then give up the position later in the lap.

Campos Racing’s Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak won FIA Formula 3’s sprint race at the Hungaroring from reversed-grid pole.

Before the start, Rodin Motorsport’s Callum Voisin and DAMS’ Christian Ho were handed three-place grid penalties for both of this weekend’s races for impeding in qualifying. However, with both having qualified far from the top 10, it was of little impact.

Inthraphuvasak had AIX Racing’s James Hedley alongside him at the front, with ART Grand Prix’s James Wharton, MP Motorsport’s Alessandro Giusti, Prema’s Ugo Ugochukwu and Trident’s Charlie Wurz next up.

It was Ugochukwu who initially looked to have the most productive lap one as he cleared Giusti, but when his front-left wheel made contact with Ugochukwu’s rear-right exiting turn 12 it immediately broke Giusti’s suspension and sent him spearing off into the barriers at turn 13.

That meant Ugochukwu ended up behind team-mate Brando Badoer and Wurz in sixth. The safety car was then summoned to clear Giusti’s car as well as debris from another collision involving ART GP’s Laurens van Hoepen and Van Amersfoort Racing’s Ivan Domingues, which led to both pitting.

Racing resumed on lap four, and Ugochukwu made quick work of Wurz. He set the fastest lap as he then passed Badoer, and with a pace advantage was able to set another fastest lap after clearing Wharton.

Once he had made his way to the rear of Hedley, he wasted little time in overtaking him on lap 11. That brief battle allowed Inthraphuvasak to grow his lead back up to 1.2 seconds, having earlier been only 0.5s, and he initially maintained that gap.

Ugochukwu was starting to reduce it again just as the safety car returned on lap 14, due to VAR’s Theophile Nael and Prema’s Noel Leon colliding at the exit of turn four while battling over eighth. Leon, who started 13th, had been on a charge.

Wurz was busy either side of the safety car period, overtaking Wharton and Hedley. Since the restart was on the final lap, he only had two chances to nail a pass and he got it done and followed home Ugochukwu in third for the second sprint race in a row.

Inthraphuvasak met the chequered flag with an advantage of 0.82s for his second win in the last three sprint races, while the championship’s usual frontrunners had a less productive time.

Only three drivers in the top 10 in the standings scored, with Campos’s Mari Boya the highest placed of those in seventh. Trident’s points leader Rafael Camara just about kept himself out of drama to finish eighth. Unlike Leon, Nael was able to continue after the contact driving under the chequered flag in ninth.

Camara’s closest title rival Nikola Tsolov recovered from 21st on the grid to 15th, and MP Motorsport’s Tim Tramnitz rose from 17th to 13th after Hitech GP’s title outsider Martinius Stenshorne had a five-second penalty for gaining an advantage off-track that dropped him from 12th to 23rd.

Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak claimed his maiden FIA Formula 3 win in a pulsating sprint race at Silverstone.

The Campos driver converted his pole position into the race lead at the start while further back, Van Amersfoort Racing’s Theophile Nael passed DAMS driver Christian Ho for second place.

Championship contender Nikola Tsolov was caught up in an unfortunate incident as he was spun around by the Prema of Brando Badoer heading into the Loop. The Bulgarian continued but Badoer was eliminated on the spot, his Prema stricken on the inside of turn 4 and requiring a safety car to be recovered.

After three laps behind the safety car, racing resumed and Ho dropped down the order as he was passed by the Hitech of Martinius Stenshorne for third heading into the Loop.

Up front Nael was closing in on Inthraphuvasak, the gap at the end of lap 7 under a second. Heading into turn 4 Nael claimed the lead off Inthraphuvasak having held the outside line into turn 3 which quickly became the inside line for turn 4.

But, three laps later, the Frenchman was told to let the Thai driver back past because he had gained advantage off the track having run wide at turn 3 in the process of the overtake.

As Nael let Inthraphuvasak past, Stenshorne began to pile the pressure on with less than a second and a half separating the top three.

The gap began to grow though and by lap 13 Inthraphuvasak had escaped Nael’s DRS range, leaving the VAR driver to fend off the charging Stenshorne.

The challenge proved too difficult for Nael as, heading into Copse, the 18 year-old ran wide handing Stenshorne an invitation to fly down the inside into Stowe and move up into second place.

The gap upfront sat at two seconds with three laps left for the Hitech driver to catch Inthraphuvasak up ahead.

Further back Mari Boya had passed Christian Ho for fifth heading into the Loop while, on the same lap, Ugo Ugochukwu had relegated his Prema teammate Noel Leon to seventh with an impressive move around the outside of Stowe.

Having been passed by Stenshorne, Nael fell back into the clutches of Laurens Van Hopen and Mari Boya. The ART driver attempted to pass heading into Stowe but Nael remained determined into Club only to run wide. With the pair off line, Mari Boya shot through on the inside to move into the final podium position.

Despite a late charge, Inthraphuvasak remained unfazed and secured his first FIA F3 win with a 1.3-second gap to Stenshorne behind.

Boya claimed third place, his third of the season, ahead of Van Hopen in fourth. Nael finished fifth on track but a 10-second penalty relegated him out of the points.

Ugochukwu was promoted to fifth with Ho securing a season’s best finish in sixth. Leon scored his first points of the season in seventh with Rafael Camara rounding out the points scorers in front of Trident team-mate Charlie Wurz, who was urged over the radio not to fight the championship leader.

Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak has signed with Campos Racing for his second season in FIA Formula 3 next year.

The 18-year-old Thai came 24th in the standings as a rookie with AIX Racing this season, with all nine of his points coming from the Hungaroring sprint race which he finished second in.

Inthraphuvasak raced in Formula 4 through 2021 and ’22. He came 10th in British F4 with one win and fifth in F4 United Arab Emirates as a rookie, then was seventh in that series the year after with one victory and also came ninth in Spanish F4. That campaign began with a victory, a second place and a pole but then no finishes above eighth place after that.

Last year he stepped up to Formula Regional, kicking off with the Middle East championship where he came 19th with one podium. After that he raced in Eurocup-3 with Campos, making the podium four times and coming sixth in the standings.

“I’m delighted to join Campos Racing for the FIA F3 season in 2025. Having been with the team in the past, I’m sure we will work very well together for this upcoming season,” said Inthraphuvasak.

“It will be my second year in the series so I will try to use all the experience gathered to deliver the results and I am confident with the team I have behind me that we will have a successful year together. I can’t wait to start working with the team and begin the preparations for next year. I would like to thank everyone that has made this possible.”

Campos’s team principal Adrian Campos Jr added: “I want to welcome Tasanapol back to Campos Racing as we reunite, having already worked together in the past. He is a great driver, fast and consistently improving race by race.

“2025 is going to be a very demanding year with the new single-seater, but we are building a team of drivers with the experience and talent needed to achieve the results we have set for ourselves.”

PHM Racing has announced Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak as its second signing for the 2024 FIA Formula 3 Championship season.

The Thai driver steps up from Formula Regional-level competition, where he has been racing for two years. That began with six races in the Ultimate Cup Series in 2022, where he took five wins, three poles and six fastest laps.

A FRegional Middle East campaign followed at the start of 2023, in which he had one podium and came 19th in the standings.

He then raced in Eurocup-3 with Campos Racing and finished sixth in the championship. Despite failing to win a race, he demonstrated his pace with two pole positions, and ended the year on a high with two podiums in the final round. Earlier this month he joined PHM to have another go a FRME, and after two rounds sits seventh in the standings with one podium.

A “delighted” Inthraphuvusak thanked “everyone who has made this possible and the team for giving me this amazing opportunity” to step up to F3. “I can’t wait to get started in Bahrain in a couple of weeks,” he said.

Inthraphuvusak drove for PHM Racing in FIA F3’s post-season tests at Barcelona and Imola last year, and he will be team-mate to Joshua Dufek. The team’s remaining seat is expected to be occupied by Taylor Barnard, who has been racing for PHM since 2022 and is currently team-mate to Inthraphuvusak in FRME.

Through 2021 and ’22, Inthraphuvasak raced primarily in Formula 4 in the British, Spanish and United Arab Emirates championships. He took three wins and three poles, as well as netting two podiums on a guest appearance in French F4.

PHM commended Inthraphuvasak’s “great progress and pace from the start” since the team started working with him, and added how much it “really enjoyed working with him during this time”.

Roland Rehfeld, PHM’s sporting director, noticed Inthraphuvasak’s choice to sign with the team for F3 was “showing his trust in our still young team” which is now operating independently in Germany after previously running out of Charouz Racing System’s facility in the Czech Republic.

“He is fully dedicated to our driver programme including the UAE winter season as well as our FIA F3 team,” said Rehfeld.

“Tas has collected victories in each class and championship he was competing in so far, so he knows how to deliver. He is extremely ambitious and focused and in the post-season testing he already showed a very promising performance and work ethic. We are sure he will be one of the positive surprises in 2024.”

With one week to go before the Formula Regional Middle East season opener at Yas Marina Circuit, there are now 11 drivers signed up.

German team PHM Racing has the biggest line-up, with four drivers signed for the full season. The most experienced of its quartet is Taylor Barnard, who was championship runner-up with the team last year before stepping up to FIA Formula 3.

“I’m super happy to be coming back to the PHM family doing FRME once again, we were vice-champions last year and the goal is to go one better,” said Barnard. “I’m looking forward to start working with the team again and have a great winter season. Many thanks to everyone involved for making this happen again.”

PHM’s FRegional team manager Giulio Falsirollo said “there are several reasons” to bring Barnard back down the single-seater ladder to race in the championship again.

“First of all, he is part of the PHM Academy, so it was an internal decision. We believe in the mutual growth and improvement that this choice will result in,” he explained. “He will be a good reference for the younger drivers and he will contribute to the enhancement of our team. On the other side, we are giving him another opportunity to prove himself and reach new goals.”

Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak is also a FRME sophomore, although he contested last season with Pinnacle VAR and only got one podium. He then went on to race in Eurocup-3, coming sixth in the standings with four podiums and two poles.

Stepping up from Formula 4 to complete PHM’s line-up is Brando Badoer and Ruiqi Liu. Badoer is an ‘optioned driver’ of the McLaren Formula 1 team and came sixth in F4 United Arab Emirates, Italian F4 and Euro 4 last year with a total of nine podiums.

Liu also competed in multiple series in 2023. He came 30th in Italian F4 with three 13th places being his best results, was fourth in the Formula Winter Series with three podiums against a small grid, and despite missing three rounds came fourth in Chinese F4 with three wins and four other podiums from eight races. He was on pole three times.

Evans GP has signed GB3 podium finisher John Bennett for the full FRME season to partner Costa Toparis, while Sainteloc Racing has announced three drivers but only for round one.

Theophile Nael and Matteo de Palo, who came first and fifth respectively in Spanish F4 last year, will race in Abu Dhabi to warm up for their FRegional European Championship campaigns with Sainteloc, while 2022 Brazilian F4 champion Pedro Clerot has signed with Van Amersfoort Racing for the 2024 FREC season but will race for Sainteloc in FRME.

Campos Racing has signed Tasanapol Inthraphuvasak for the new Eurocup-3 series, making him the first driver to be confirmed as entering.

Eurocup-3 will use cars based around Tatuus’s Formula Regional tub but with different bodywork and tuned up Alfa Romeo engines to make them closer to Formula 3 on pace and lighter than FRegional cars.

The series will race in Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal and Spain, and has been thought up by the promoters of the Spanish Formula 4 championship, with Campos and rival MP Motorsport being two of the founding Eurocup-3 teams.

“I’m very happy to announce that I will be racing with Campos Racing in Eurocup-3,” said Inthraphuvasak.

“It will be a challenge to be racing in a new championship but I am very confident to be working with a great team who can help me develop throughout the season.”

The 17-year-old Thai will be embarking on his third year in car racing, having debuted in Formula 4 in 2021. He finished fifth in the United Arab Emirates championship with three podiums, took a win en route to 10th in the British championship and also claimed two podiums in a French F4 cameo.

A return to F4 UAE in 2022 resulted in a win and two other podiums, then he joined MP in Spanish F4 and claimed a win and a pole but could only come ninth in the points table.

However at the same time he stepped up to FRegional competition in the Ultimate Cup Series, and had a far more fruitful time as from six races he had a return of five wins, three poles and six fastest laps.

Inthraphuvasak remained in FRegional at the start of this year, joining the Middle East championship with Pinnacle VAR. He is currently 15th in the standings after three rounds, with one podium.

“I would like to extend a warm welcome to Tasanapol on behalf of Campos,” said the team’s principal Adrian Campos Jr.

“We are pleased to count on him for this new adventure in the Eurocup-3 series. As a rival, he was a very strong contender last year during the F4 Spain season, so we feel confident we will be able to complete a strong campaign together fighting for top results.”
