Argenti Motorsport, Chris Dittmann Racing, Rodin Motorsport and Xcel Motorsport have all been announcing driver signings for British Formula 4 recently.

Remaining with Argenti for a second season is Mercedes-AMG Formula 1 junior and 2024 CIK-FIA World Karting and Ginetta Junior champion Ethan Jeff-Hall.

As a single-seater rookie the 17-year-old came fifth in the 2025 British F4 standings with one victory and five other podiums. He also finished second in the first of the non-championship F1 support races at Silverstone.

CDR has also gone for continuity, retaining Tommy Harfield and Piotr Orzechowski from its 2025 line-up.

Harfield, 16, competed full-time and three wins late in the season propelled him to fourth in the standings. He had six other podium appearances (including the British Grand Prix support races) and qualified on pole twice. Polish racer Orzechowski did three rounds last year to kick off his car racing career, and his best result was a 17th place.

Rodin Motorsport will run Ethan Lennon and McLaren junior Dries Van Langendonck in British F4 this year. Both are already racing for the team in the Iberia-based Formula Winter Series, which they are one round into. Van Langendonck leads the points after claiming a win and a pole at Estoril, and Lennon is 11th in the standings with a fourth place to his name.

Lennon hails from South Africa, and the 15-year-old came 13th in entry-level sportscar series Ginetta Junior last year as a part-timer so will know several of British F4’s circuits. In his junior karting career he finished third in the Trofeo Andrea Margutti, 11th in the IAME Winter Cup, 16th in the ROK Superfinal.

Van Langendonck joined Rodin for the last three rounds of the 2025 British F4 season, taking a pole and victory in his debut weekend and coming 21st in the standings. His points-per-race average was the 11th highest in the field.

The 15-year-old Belgian was World and European champion, won the Champions of the Future and WSK Final Cup titles and was WSK Super Master Series runner-up in karting’s OK Junior class, and in the senior OK class was WSK FC and WSK SMS champion, eighth in the CIK-FIA European Championship and 17th in CotF.

Cole Hewetson, another South African, is staying at Xcel for a third year. He debuted in single-seaters with the team in the United Arab Emirates’ two-round Formula Trophy series in 2024, coming 15th, then was 18th in F4 Middle East at the start of 2025. A British F4 campaign followed in which he was 16th with one podium at the final round, then he ended the year with a FTrophy cameo.

Preparing to race in British F4 is top Indonesian karter Qarrar Firhand. The 15-year-old began testing in F4 machinery last July with AKM Motorsport, then racked up mileage with Argenti and Global Racing Service. He has confirmed he will make his F4 debut in summer, and it is expected he will do three British F4 rounds.

Karting graduate Lewis Wherrell has joined JHR Developments to race in British Formula 4 next year.

The 15-year-old already has some single-seater experience, making his debut in a Spanish F4 event than landing a top-five finish in a GB4 cameo.

Last month he joined Saudi Arabian F4 for two rounds, and by taking two wins and two poles he was able to come fifth in the standings despite missing over half of the season.

“I’m proud to announce that I’ll be racing for JHR Developments for the 2026 British F4 season,” said Wherrell.

“I’d like to thank everyone involved at JHR for this opportunity. I can’t wait to get started and I’m hoping for a good year ahead for both me and the whole team.”

JHR’s team principal Steven Hunter added: “We’ve had some really good test days so far with Lewis and he’s done quite a bit of running since the end of the season. He’s done a really good job so far. He’s been taking a lot of information onboard and applied what he’s learnt very methodically. With every test he’s gained in confidence and speed, so we’re looking forward to seeing Lewis out racing with JHR and I feel that he’ll be battling up the front in 2026.”

Wherrell has moved into single-seaters after an impressive karting career. In the OK Junior class he was Champions of the Future champion, won the WSK Champions Cup and Trofeo delle Industrie, was fourth in the CIK-FIA European championship, sixth in WSK’s Final Cup, eighth in its Euro Series and ninth in its Super Master Series.

After stepping up to the senior OK class, he came seventh in the European championship, eighth in WSK SMS, 11th in WSK FC and 23rd in the CIK-FIA World championship.

Also debuting in British F4 in 2026 are 16-year-old George Proudford-Nalder (Virtuosi Racing) and 18-year-old Vegard Klemetsen (Argenti Motorsport).

Australian racer Proudford-Nalder, who comes from a family of cattle farmers, switched from karting to cars this year via entry-level sportscar series Ginetta Junior. He came seventh in the standings with two podiums.

Klemetsen, from Norway, came 34th in the European championship for OK karts this year, one place behind Wherrell.

Alfie Slater, younger brother of Formula Regional Europe champion Freddie, will debut in single-seaters next year with Rodin Motorsport in British Formula 4.

The 15-year-old already has plentiful car racing experience, having come ninth in entry-level sportscar series Ginetta Junior and third in its winter series in 2024 then fifth in the main series’ 2025 season.

During his karting career he finished third in the LeCont Trophy, 10th in Trofeo delle Industrie, 17th in the CIK-FIA World Championship and came 12th in Champions of the Future and 18th in the CIK-FIA European championship on OK Junior karts.

“I’m very excited to start my single seater journey in British F4 with Rodin,” said Slater. “I had some good results in Ginetta Juniors and I hope to replicate that in F4, but this time come home with the championship.”

Rodin’s sporting director Benn Huntingford added: “We’re pleased to welcome Alfie Slater to Rodin for the 2026 British F4 season. He’s shown real speed and composure and we believe he’s a strong fit for our programme.”

Hitech GP has added Theo Palmer to its 2026 British Formula 4 line-up. He joined the team this October for the first two rounds in Saudi Arabian F4, where Hitech runs all the cars, and took two podiums and a pole.

His main 2025 programme was with Xcel Motorsport in British F4. He missed round one due to not yet being 15 years old, sixth place finishes were his results and he came 18th in the standings.

“I’m really excited to be joining Hitech for this next step in my single-seater career,” said Palmer. “They’re a really professional team and have either won or been in the fight for the title every year. I can’t wait to learn from them and fight for strong results throughout the season.”

Palmer came 14th in the Rotax Max Challenge International Trophy and 25th in the Kartmasters British Grand Prix for Rotax Junior karts in 2024, and on X30 Junior karts finished eighth in the grand prix. He lives in the United Arab Emirates, did most of his karting there and has competed with an Emirati license.

“We have kept a close eye on Theo in his British F4 debut season and have been impressed to see the same pace and adaptability that he consistently demonstrated in karting,” said Hitech’s F4 team manager Dominic Stott.

“We’re confident he has all the tools to make an immediate impact this season and will continue to develop.”

Argenti Motorsport recently announced it has signed Chinese racer Sun Anzhe. The 15-year-old heads to British F4 after competing on OK karts this year with Victor Martins’ Victory Lane team, and having become a member of the All Road Management stable at the start of 2025.

Leaving Argenti for Chris Dittmann Racing as he embarks on a sophomore British F4 season is Henry Mercier. The 17-year-old American came 17th this year with one podium, and was a car racing newcomer after two years spent karting in Europe.

While the Formula Regional European Championship’s 2026 calendar is not yet published, recent paddock gossip has revealed what changes are expected.

Delays in formalising the agreement between FREC promoter ACI Sport and the FIA to collaborate on organising the championship going forward has subsequently prolonged negotiations with circuits but teams have already received an eight-round draft calendar.

That would end a five-year run of 10-round seasons, and Formula Scout understands nations are now limited to two rounds per year. ACI operates from Italy, which has appeared at least three times on the calendar in all previous seasons.

The draft calendar retains Monza but drops Imola and Misano for Mugello, which had featured each year until 2025.

Hockenheim, Paul Ricard, the Red Bull Ring, Spa-Francorchamps and Zandvoort will be retained, and it is believed Barcelona will be off the calendar for the first time as FREC was unable to secure a suitable slot to race there.

The Hungaroring is likely to be absent as GB3 retains its position supporting Euroformula’s event there, while Germany could have two rounds as the Nurburgring is touted to join. It and Hockenheim’s round are expected to support the DTM.

In 2021, FREC planned to visit the Nurburgring but severe flooding in the Eifel region made the track unavailable and it was swapped out for Valencia’s Ricardo Tormo circuit. It would therefore debut next year.

FREC has long sought a return to Formula 1’s support bill, having started its 2021 season with three rounds on its undercard and racing in Monaco again in 2022. Championship partner Renault then had to cede that support slot to FIA Formula 3.

While being in F1’s 2026 support paddock appears unattainable, FREC’s increased support from the FIA is likely to add pressure to achieve its ambition.

Despite a reduced calendar length, FREC will continue to have a 20-race season. Four rounds will feature a third race, which will be the first reversed-grid encounters in championship history.

The top 12 from the first qualifying session will be reversed to form the grid, with the aim of helping drivers adjust to the format used further up the ladder in FIA F3.

Formula Scout understands qualifying would likely be shifted to Friday afternoons, at least for the triple-headers.

A joint announcement by FREC and the FIA before this season’s penultimate round at Hockenheim named the 10 teams that will compete in 2026. That had one notable change from a draft list circulated to teams, as Michael Meadows’ Argenti Motorsport outfit had been set to join and replace G4 Racing.

Argenti competes primarily in karting and British Formula 4, and expanded into GB3 this year in partnership with Prema.

G4 has raced in FREC since 2021, won five races but endured a tough 2025 in which it scored one point. Team manager Adrian Munoz explained that they and rivals were surprised by their initial omission, and were informed of the changed decision days before the announcement. G4 then submitted its 2026 entry fees immediately.

Rodin Motorsport’s Alex Ninovic and Argenti with Prema’s Reza Seewooruthun claimed a GB3 pole each in wet and windy conditions at Donington Park.

Two days of pre-event testing preceded Saturday’s qualifying, and it was Hitech GP’s Keanu Al Azhari who set the pace. Xcel Motorsport’s Partick Heuzenroeder registered a 1m22.789s lap in between two red flag periods to lead session one by 0.362 seconds from Kai Daryanani and Abbi Pulling who both posted identical times.

Championship leader Ninovic lowered the pace to 1m22.565s moments before session two was ended early by red flags. Having been best of the rest, Al Azhari then beat Ninovic’s benchmark by 0.044s with less than five minutes remaining of session three. The Emirati improved further to 1m22.379s as the chequered flag, with Ninovic 0.2s behind.

Friday’s running was disrupted by persisitent rain, with Ninovic, Al Alzhari and Deagen Fairclough topping a session each. Al Azhari ended testing 0.186s clear of Ninovic, with Fairclough, Heuzenroeder and Red Bull junior Enzo Tarnvanickul all within half a second of the pace.

The changeable conditions continued into qualifying, with drivers initially heading out on slicks in Q1. Heuzenroeder led at the halfway stage with a 1m25.219s, but soon he was shuffled down the order. JHR Developments’ Noah Lisle knocked a second off the benchmark, and Ninovic lowered the pace further to 1m23.878s just before team-mate Gianmarco Pradel brought proceedings to a halt by crashing at Fogarty esses.

Rain started to fall once the track returned to green, and Ninovic retained his 0.164s gap at the top to Lisle, with Seewooruthun, Heuzenroeder and Fairclough completing the top six.

Drivers fitted wet tyres for Q2, and Lisle led Seewooruthun by 0.035s seven minutes in. He remained ahead until three minutes remaining, when he was eclipsed by Ninovic, and then Seewooruthun – the latter clinching race two pole by almost half a second with a 1m34.174s.

Fortec Motorsports’ Liam McNeilly impressed on his GB3 debut by clinching third late on, with Fairclough fourth ahead of Lisle and Tarnvanichkul.

GB3 returnee Max Taylor will start the first two races from 18th and 16th respectively for debuting team Race Lab.

Rodin duo Pulling and Pradel, as well as Elite Motorsport’s Flynn Jackes and Bianca Bustamante, were subsequently excluded from both qualifying sessions for failing to attend post-qualification weighing within the 15-minute deadline.

Mercedes junior Ethan Jeff-Hall claimed his maiden single-seater victory as he led an Argenti Motorsport one-two in the reversed-grid race at Silverstone.

Jeff-Hall made an impressive move around the outside of August Raber and Adam Al Azhari to snatch the race lead. Team-mate Raber attempted to fight back but couldn’t find a way back through and had to settle for second.

Meanwhile, of the top four in the championship standings, only Jimmy Piszcyk was within the points-paying positions early on, as problems for Fionn McLaughlin, Martin Molnar and Tommy Harfield dropped them down the order.

Al Azhari held the race lead off the line while Raber battled Joseph Smith for second. The race leader was able to escape down the road, but once Raber found a way past Smith he began to close the gap. 

Raber was within half a second of Al Azhari when the safety car was brought out after Haami Sadiq put his car in the gravel.

Once racing resumed with 10 minutes remaining, Raber managed to get alongside Al Azhari and had a nose ahead. Al Azhari tried to fight back, but a move around the outside by Jeff-Hall demoted him to third. Ary Bansal then passed to put Al Azhari in fifth.

Once ahead, Jeff-Hall was able to hold off Raber. The two Argenti drivers remained close until the chequered flag, but there were no opportunities for Raber to make a move.

Bansal held off Al Azhari for third, ahead of Rowan Campbell-Pilling and Smith.

Further down the order, McLaughlin and Dries Van Langendonck both ran into problems on the opening lap. Both ran wide at Becketts and were able to get going again, but needed to come to the pits. 

Just before the safety car was brought out, a wide moment for Harfield dropped him down the order and forced him to pit. He was able to get back out and recovered to finish 12th but wouldn’t take points from the race.

Molnar was the next driver to run into problems. Shortly after the track went green again, Henry Joslyn damaged his front wing, which Molnar picked up. That sent him spinning into the gravel. Molnar was also able to continue but dropped down the order after a trip to the pits.

Ella Lloyd managed to avoid the drama around her to finish seventh overall, just ahead of Piszcyk. Theo Palmer and Arjen Kraling completed the top 10.

The number of debutants for this weekend’s GB3 round at Silverstone has risen to five, as August Raber steps up from Formula 4 with the Argenti with Prema team.

The Swede has taken three wins and is currently fifth in the standings in his sophomore British F4 campaign, having come 21st during an injury-blighted season with Xcel Motorsport in 2024. He also scored a victory earlier this year in F4 Middle East, where he was eighth in the points.

Argenti is competing in its first year of GB3 in partnership with single-seater powerhouse Prema, and has fielded a three-car line-up of Yuanpu Cui, Lucas Fluxa and Reza Seewooruthun at the first four rounds. A maiden victory was delivered last time out at the Hungaroring by Seewooruthun

Raber will take over Cui’s seat at Silverstone, as the Mercedes-AMG Formula 1 junior has announced a mid-season switch to Hillspeed.

Cui has raced with Argenti since 2024, when he came ninth in British F4 with one win. He is currently 16th in GB3, with a pair of sixth places at Zandvoort his best results.

“I’m excited to begin a new chapter with Hillspeed,” he said. “It was a pleasure to work with Argenti for the last two years, we mutually parted ways, and now I’m excited to see how this weekend at Silverstone goes in the new environment.”

The 17-year-old will race at Silverstone alongside Michael Shin, who is making a cameo return with Hillspeed. The Derbyshire squad has won four races this season despite having only contested two rounds so far. Freddie Slater, Kanato Le and Hiyu Yamakoshi – its drivers at those events – all have clashing commitments in FRegional Europe this weekend.

“It’s fantastic news we have agreed a deal with Yuanpu and his management to race with us in GB3 at Silverstone this weekend,” said Hillspeed’s team principal Richard Ollerenshaw.

“He obviously has half a season under his belt in this championship so the aim will be to gel together as quickly as possible and make strong progress across the weekend. With two days of testing ahead of qualifying and the races, we’re sure we can build toward some good results.”

August Raber held off Tommy Harfield to win British Formula 4’s delayed reversed-grid race at Snetterton.

The first attempt at starting the race lasted less than a lap, with red flags being waved in rainy conditions. It was scheduled back into the timetable almost two hours later, when better weather enabled the drivers to complete the 11-lap encounter.

It was damp when the race initially started, and several drivers got into trouble on the formation lap. They all eventually came around to start the race, only for five cars to be involved in an accident on lap one. JHR Developments’ front row starter Joel Bergstrom and Rowan Campbell-Pilling were among those who at that point were retirees as they were not moving when red flags arrived.

The race was initially shortened to 15 minutes during the stoppage and the remaining cars then went on another formation lap, only for the red lights to be held on the gantry and the race postponed. With the delay, cars could be repaired and the grid was full when it formed again.

This time Bergstrom made it around the first lap, but fell back behind Chris Dittmann Racing’s Harfield and Rodin Motorsport’s Adam Al Azhari. 

At the front, reversed-grid poleman Raber built a gap of over two seconds, but it was an advantage Hartfield would quickly reduce after lap two. He lowered the fastest lap pace multiple times as he closed in on Raber and distanced himself from third.

In the final laps, the pair were separated by just a few tenths of a second. Harfield looked for a way through but Raber offered no opportunity. He did not put a wheel wrong and came home just 0.165 seconds ahead of Harfield to move into the points lead.

Behind them, a wide moment for Al Azhari allowed Bergstrom through to take second. Hitech GP’s Leo Robinson had passed Campbell-Pilling for fifth earlier in the lap and was not close enough to take advantage of Al Azhari’s mistake. He closed onto his gearbox, and as Al Azhari defended it allowed Bergstrom to pull away.

Al Azhari did a good job to hold off Robinson to the chequered flag, while Campbell-Pilling led a train of his own featuring Ethan Jeff-Hall and Fionn McLaughlin. The latter climbed up from 11th on the grid to finish eighth.

Rodin’s James Piszyck entered the race atop the standings, but started and finished 12th with a wide moment early on the only noticable event in his race. Title rival Martin Molnar (Virtuosi Racing) also failed to score in ninth.

August Raber won the opening race of the 2025 British Formula 4 championship at Donington Park.

Racing was disrupted by two safety car periods, leaving the field with a three-minute dash to the flag to end the race.

Raber held off pressure from Fionn McLaughlin to take the victory while a penalty for James Piszcyk cost him a podium position.

Piszcyk made a storming start from the third row of the grid, taking second from Raber and challenging polesitter Henry Joslyn for the race lead. Before the lap was up, Raber had retaken second position and closed onto the back of Joslyn, while Piszcyk defended his position from McLaughlin.

It didn’t take Raber long to find a way past Joslyn, and he was comfortably ahead when the safety car was brought out 10 minutes into the race. In the middle of the field, Xavier Avramides had spun at the final corner and came to a stop on track. The marshals were able to get his car moving again before the safety car made it onto the track, leading to a quick pause.

The track turned green with 11 minutes remaining, and Raber made a good get away to pull away from the rest of the field. Behind him, Joslyn came under attack from Piszcyk. The two came together and Joslyn was sent straight on at the chicane and hit the barriers, bringing the safety car out again.

Piszcyk was still third on track, now behind McLaughlin, but his race would go from bad to worse when he was hit with a five-second penalty. His strong getaway had come under scrutiny and it was deemed he made a false start.

Racing resumed with just three minutes left on the clock. McLaughlin was able to stay with Raber on the restart, but couldn’t find a way past the Argenti driver. He finished just 0.460s back in second.

In the final laps, the closest battle on track was between Tommy Harfield and Ethan Jeff-Hall, who were battling for what would become third on track. The pair had been battling since the first half of the race, after Harfield passed Jeff-Hall on the opening lap. Despite multiple overtake attempts, Harfield defended his position well and came through to take third place overall, and first in the Challenge Cup.

Thomas Bearman held off Rowan Campbell-Pilling to pick up fifth. They finished just ahead of the battle between Martin Molnar, Ella Lloyd and Adam Al Azhari. Lloyd had been ahead during the safety car period, but Molnar and Al Azhari both found a way through in the brief dash to the flag. Piszcyk, with his penalty applied, broke up the trio, placing ninth overall ahead of Lloyd.

Argenti Motorsport has made its fourth British Formula 4 signing for 2025, as karter Arjen Kraling joins its line-up.

The German will only contest a half-season, since he does not reach championship’s minimum age for entry of 15 years old until July. He will make his debut in round six at Zandvoort, which will be British F4’s second ever overseas event.

Kraling will be team-mate to Mercedes-AMG Formula 1 junior Ethan Jeff-Hall, American karting graduate Henry Mercier and F4 Middle East race-winner August Raber.

“I am eternally grateful to everyone who made it possible for me to get behind the wheel of a F4 car so early,” said Kraling.

“In karting I was close, but always a little step behind drivers with more experience. I want to change that now. Argenti has given me this opportunity, and I want to prove that with hard work, passion, and the right support, no dream is too big. I’m very excited for my first car race and want to give back the trust they’ve placed in me.”

There have already been four pre-season tests which Kraling has participated in this year, with his karting career having already come to an end.

On OK Junior karts he came eighth in the CIK-FIA World championship and WSK Euro Series, ninth in Champions of the Future and WSK Final Cup, 11th in WSK’s Champions Cup and 16th in its Super Master Series, and 17th in the CIK-FIA European championship.

“We are very happy to welcome Arjen to the team,” Argenti’s team principal Michael Meadows said. “He has a very good karting pedigree and has shown a lot of progress and speed during his testing. As Arjen is currently 14, we look forward to seeing him race in Zandvoort onwards and until then will continue his testing programme.”
