Sharon Scolari’s Swiss family-run team?is set to run one car with the support of the Italian Viola Formula squad, which has previously ran in junior single-seaters in its home country.

Scolari, 24, made her single-seater debut last year and took one top 10 finish on the way to fourth in the FR NEC standings.

After failing to make it through the first stage of the W Series selection process, a rejection she had been contractually obliged not to have explained to her, Scolari switched her aim to FREC, which uses the same Tatuus regional Formula 3 chassis and Alfa Romeo engine.

Another team that has been testing in FREC, but yet to formally announce an entry, is JD Motorsport.

The Italian team has previously ran in the Formula Renault Eurocup, and will remain in the championship for this year as it switches to regional F3 rules. It has already signed French Formula 4 runner-up Ugo de Wilde, who drove the team’s car in FREC testing.

Max Fewtrell took his third straight Formula Renault Eurocup win to increase his lead heading to the final round, after rival Christian Lundgaard ground to a halt while battling with the Briton.

After qualifying on pole, Lundgaard led Fewtrell in the early stages, with just under a second between the pair approaching the half-way point of the 30-minute race.

That was when the safety car was deployed after their Renault Sport Academy colleague Victor Martins went wide at Turn 1 while running seventh, breaking his suspension with a violent run over the kerb and spinning helplessly into the Turn 2 gravel trap.

At the restart with just over 10 minutes remaining, Fewtrell got a run on Lundgaard into the hairpin.

Lundgaard kept the lead on the inside line but slowed dramatically on the exit, allowing Fewtrell alongside him to move into the lead and the rest of the field to then sweep past.

Fewtrell took victory by eight tenths of a second over Oscar Piastri, who passed title challenger Yifei Ye when the Chinese driver ran wide at the hairpin behind the battling Fewtrell and Lundgaard at the restart.

R-ace GP driver Fewtrell will take a 20.5-point lead over Ye to the final round at Barcelona, with Lundgaard now 36.5 points adrift after his double retirement.

Logan Sargeant briefly got ahead of Piastri at the restart, but found himself passed soon afterwards by Neil Verhagen and Lorenzo Colombo. Colombo went on to beat Verhagen to fourth, with Sargeant getting back ahead of his fellow American for fifth.

Thomas Maxwell, Charles Milesi, Eliseo Martinez and Arthur Rougier rounded out the top 10.

Phil Hill took ScoRace Team’s first Northern European Cup class win in 15th, although it wasn’t enough to beat Gabriel Gandulias to second in the NEC standings. Hill’s team-mate Sharon Scolari was fourth in class and jumped up to fourth in the standings as a result. Sargeant ended the season fifth in the standings with two overall wins, but only being entered for points for the first four races.

Points leader Christian Lundgaard heads a number of Formula Renault Eurocup stars who will take part in this weekend’s Northern European Cup round at the Pau Grand Prix.

MP Motorsport will field both Lundgaard and team-mate Alex Peroni, who beat Sacha Fenestraz to win on the streets of Pau last year when the event was part of the Eurocup schedule.

French outfits R-ace GP and Tech 1 Racing will both field four drivers each: in the latter case it will run its usual Eurocup quartet of Neil Verhagen, Alexander Smolyar, Frank Bird and Thomas Neubauer, who have also all been entered for round two of the NEC at Monza.

The next three NEC events following Monza – at Spa, the Hungaroring and Nurburgring – will all take place on combined grids with the Eurocup following a recent calendar shake-up.

R-ace GP will field three of its Eurocup drivers – Logan Sargeant, Victor Martins and Charles Milesi – but not Max Fewtrell, with its fourth car instead reserved for its full-time NEC entrant Gabriel?Gandulia.

Fortec Motorsports will provide a car for Renault protege Arthur Rougier, who won twice in Pau in French F4 last year.

Two non-Eurocup teams have committed to the NEC, with?Anders Motorsport?signing former ADAC F4 driver Doureid Ghattas alongside karter Phil Hill, while?Sharon Scolari switches from Lotus Cup racing with ScoRace.

In Pau, V de V Single-Seater Challenge champions Formula Motorsport will field Frenchmen Nicolas Melin and Nicolas Pironneau – the latter having competed with the team in the 2013 non-championship Formula Renault event in Pau – with rival team Lamo Racing Car entering?Thierry Malhomme to form a 17-car grid.
