Jack Sherwood has been confirmed as Xcel Motorsport’s second signing for its maiden GB3 assault.

Sherwood began his car racing career with Elite Motorsport in 2021, coming 24th in entry-level sportscar series Ginetta Junior, and since then has spent the last three years racing in Formula 4.

He continued with Elite in 2022 and scored two victories en-route to fifth in GB4’s inaugural season at the wheel of a first-generation F4 car. He then switched to more modern machinery in British F4, finishing 15th overall with three podiums at Chris Dittmann Racing in 2023, and last year improved to fifth in the standings and eight podiums with Rodin Motorsport.

The 18-year-old is the fifth full-time driver from last year’s British F4 championship to graduate to GB3 for 2025, and he will race alongside GB3 sophomore Patrick Heuzenroeder, who was announced by Xcel earlier this week.

“I’m really excited to be joining Xcel Motorsport for my rookie GB3 season,” said Sherwood. “After a strong 2024 in British F4, I feel ready to take this next step.

“GB3 is a highly competitive championship, but I’m confident that with Xcel’s support, we can achieve some great results. I can’t wait to get started and see what we can accomplish together.”

“We’re delighted to have Jack joining us for the 2025 GB3 season,” added Xcel’s team principal Gary Bonnor. “He showed great pace and consistency in British F4 last year, and we have no doubt he will carry that momentum into GB3.

“Jack’s work ethic and determination make him a great fit for our team, and we’re looking forward to seeing him develop and challenge for strong results in his rookie year.”

A dramatic accident for Rodin Motorsport’s Jack Sherwood while leading led to the stoppage of the third British Formula 4 race on Brand Hatch’s Grand Prix layout.

Sherwood had been comfortably ahead of the field when a suspected rear puncture caused his car to go off on the Grand Prix loop. The front of the car dug into the grass and Sherwood barrel-rolled over a barrier.

He was able to walk away from the incident, and the race was red-flagged with 12 minutes remaining, but would not be restarted.

Up until that point, it seemed that Sherwood was on course for his maiden victory. He had made a great start from sixth on the grid to be second by the end of the first lap, and was challenging JHR Developments’ Ella Lloyd for the lead. A move at Surtees put Sherwood ahead the following lap.

Lloyd was kept under pressure from Rodin’s Alex Ninovic, who had also enjoyed a strong start after starting eighth. Ninovic had first come up against Argenti Motorsport’s Rowan-Campbell Pilling, who had been demoted to third, but an off for Campbell-Pilling promoted Ninovic to the podium.

The battle for second meant Sherwood could escape up the road, and was three seconds clear of Lloyd and Ninovic when his accident occurred.

Ninovic passed Lloyd shortly before the incident, which first brought out the safety car before red flags were waved. No results have been issued for the race, but there is no opportunity to reschedule it on the the final day of the season.

Deagen Fairclough pipped Jack Sherwood to top British Formula 4 qualifying at Thruxton by just 0.004 seconds.

Hitech GP driver Fairclough jumped to the top of the times with his final lap of the session to set a time of 1m10.688s around the Hampshire circuit to secure his third pole position of the season.

Rodin Motorsport’s Sherwood was unable to improve on his final lap and had to settle for second, but he will start the first race of the weekend from pole with the best second-quickest time.

Fairclough had taken the fastest time after the first set of laps, ahead of Reza Seewooruthun and Sherwood. There was little movement in the first half of the session but lap times tumbled after tyres were changed for the second half of qualifying. Sherwood took provisional pole from Seewooruthun, with Fairclough bumped down to third.

James Higgins briefly took the top spot with a time of 1m10.579s, only for his lap time to be deleted for exceeding track limits. 

Another improvement from Sherwood put him back on the top top of the timing screen until Fairclough’s final flying lap.

Sherwood’s second fastest time remained enough for pole position for the first race of the day, ahead of Abbi Pulling and Seewooruthun.

Scoular improved late in the session to go third quickest overall, ahead of Pulling and Seewooruthun.

Higgins dropped back to P6 after his lap time was deleted and couldn’t improve from that position. He starts the final race of the weekend just ahead of Yuanpu Cui and Martin Molnar, while Leo Robinson and Mika Abrahams completed the top 10.

Pulling moves up to the front row for race one alongside team-mate Sherwood, with Hitech duo Seewooruthun and Fairclough to share row two.

British Formula 4 pre-season testing got underway on Silverstone’s Grand Prix track layout this week, and Deagen Fairclough set the pace.

Rodin Motorsport announced at the start of the two-day test that it had added Jack Sherwood to its line-up for 2024. The 17-year-old came 24th in Ginetta Junior three years ago, then stepped up to single-seaters in GB4 where he came fifth in the 2022 standings with two wins and a pole.

He also did four British F4 rounds that year with Chris Dittmann Racing, with a best finish of eighth leaving him 18th in the standings. Sherwood remained with the team for 2023, coming 15th in British F4 with three podiums and scoring one point in a GB3 cameo.

“We are looking forward to working with Jack in 2024 and seeing what he can do with us,” said Rodin’s British F4 team manager Gary Bonnor.

“His previous experience in the series will only help him hit the ground running with us as we look to develop him further this year.”

Starting the test on top was Fairclough, who set a 2m01.086s in session one to Hitech GP lead team-mate Mika Abrahams by 0.326 seconds. Rodin’s James Higgins was a further 0.017s slower in third, with Reza Seewooruthun (Hitech), Joel Bergstrom (JHR Developments) and Gabriel Stilp (Hitech) the only other drivers within a second of the pace.

Session two was slightly slower, and Rodin’s Alex Ninovic set the pace with a 2m01.129s. He was fastest by just 0.018s over Argenti Motorsport’s Rowan Campbell-Pilling, with Higgins 0.089s behind in third and Fairclough 0.135s back in fourth. JHR’s Leon Robinson was 0.537s slower than Ninovic in fifth, and this time the top nine were covered by a second. Argenti’s Matus Ryba missed the session.

Fairclough lowered the pace to 2m00.678s in session three, with Xcel Motorsport’s Zack Scoular his closest rival with a 2m00.924s lap. Campbell-Pilling was next best, 0.428s behind, and Robinson was fourth. Argenti’s Emily Cotty did two outlaps but did not put a time on the board.

All 21 drivers were active again in session four, and all improved bar Fortec Motorsport’s Nina Pothof and Cotty. Fairclough set a 2m00.292s to stay on top, and Higgins and Ninovic both set 2m00.573s to be joint second. Scoular was 0.342s behind in fourth, with 0.993s covering the top 14.

Wednesday began with Scoular lowering the pace to 2m00.023s. There were only six drivers who improved their pace, and despite going second fastest Fairclough was not one of them.

Higgins moved into second overall by topping the next session with a 2m00.210s. Fairclough was again a non-improver in second place, while 12 improved.

In session seven Fairclough topped the times by 0.256s over Stilp, who was the only improver, then in the final session Fairclough finally made a gain and a big one too as he set a 1m59.971s. Stilp fell 0.009s short of setting a sub-2m00s lap but was among the eight who improved, and Scoular was third fastest. Robinson was absent.

Jack Sherwood will make his GB3 debut with Chris Dittmann Racing at Zandvoort this weekend, with the entry list rising to 26 cars.

Sherwood was 15th in British Formula 4 with CDR this year, taking three podium finishes. He also raced F4 machinery in 2022, winning twice en-route to fifth in the standings in GB4 with Elite Motorsport, which he also previously competed with in Ginetta Junior.

The 17-year-old will race alongside Zak Taylor and Arthur Rogeon at Zandvoort, with CDR fielding three cars for the first time this season.

“I’m looking forward to racing the GB3 Championship car with Chris Dittmann Racing,” said Sherwood. “I’ve had five test days so far, so I’m excited to get behind the wheel in a race environment. I’ve enjoyed my time in the car so far and it’s a good car to drive as it’s really fast with lots of aero, so it’s tricky to get used to but I’ve got a decent grasp so far and hopefully that’ll translate to the weekend.

“I’ve driven Zandvoort once before and it’s an awesome circuit. Its challenging, undulating, and high speed, plus the banking adds another variable for us drivers. It’s a dream to be able to drive on Formula 1 circuits at this stage of my career and I’ll be working hard with CDR all weekend to maximise our performance. We did well last year coming into F4 with little preparation, so hopefully, we can repeat that in GB3.”

CDR’s team principal Chris Dittmann added: “We’re looking forward to having Jack in the car. We’ve done a few days with him already and he’s been quite impressive. He’s had a good F4 season and learned a lot throughout the year, so it was nice for him to end his year with a podium in that series.

“Racing at Zandvoort in GB3 will be a great experience, and given what he’s shown us in testing so far, I think he could do quite well.”

Sherwood is the second British F4 regular to sign up for their GB3 debut at Zandvoort this weekend, with Patrick Heuzenroeder having joined Elite Motorsport.

GB4 race-winner Jack Sherwood will race in British Formula 4 this year with Chris Dittmann Racing, after contesting a part-time campaign with the team in 2022.

Sherwood came 24th in Ginetta Junior in 2021, then stepped up to single-seater racing at the start of last year with Elite Motorsport in GB4.

He came fifth in the standings with two wins, seven other podiums and a pole position, then joined CDR for the last four rounds of the British F4 season. A best finish of eighth, with two other points finishes to his name, put him 18th in the standings.

“After completing four rounds of the British F4 championship with Chris Dittmann Racing last season, and experiencing first hand the work they do to help develop drivers, I knew I wanted to come back and do a full season with the team,” said the 16-year-old/

“We did a couple of test days at the end of the season and the pace was promising, by the end we were really fast. It always helps when you get on with the team you’re working with, and I’ve built a really great relationship with everyone. Chris, Josh the driver coach and all the mechanics are all fun to be around on a weekend, and I really enjoy the atmosphere, so that makes it easier.

“I feel at home in the F4 car, so it will be a case of fine-tuning in the pre-season and making sure we’re ready to hit the ground running when the season starts in April at Donington Park. I think my previous bit of experience in the car is going to be an advantage for us as there’s not too many second year drivers on the grid so far, but it will still be super competitive.”

GB4 uses Tatuus’s first-generation F4 car, while British F4 uses the T-421 chassis that succeeded it and was introduced to championships across the world last year.

“We’re really pleased to welcome Jack back to the team after he showed such great potential in the closing rounds of the British F4 championship last season,” said Chris Dittmann, owner of the eponymous CDR team.

“Jack fits in really well with everyone in the team and is a joy to work with, and with his previous experience in the F4 car and raw racing talent, we’re optimistic about what we can achieve together.”

The statistics point to a dominant season from Nikolas Taylor, who won more than twice as many races as anyone else, but the Fortec Motorsports driver’s route to the inaugural GB4 crown was far from comfortable

With plenty of testing but no car racing experience heading into his rookie single-seater campaign, Nikolas Taylor immediately made his mark by winning the inaugural GB4 race at Snetterton from pole ahead of Elite Motorsport’s Alex Walker. Having been a multiple race winner in National Formula Ford 1600 in 2021, the more experienced Walker began the campaign as one of the title favourites, and he started to deliver on that tag by winning three of the next four races.

A duel for the title was starting to look a possibility during the first visit to Silverstone for round three, with Taylor prevailing in a battle with Walker to win race one before triumphing again in the subsequent encounter despite a clash which put Walker out with suspension damage. But Taylor’s weekend ended on a dampener by crashing out of the reversed-grid race as he tried to climb through the field.

The Anglo-Malaysian teenager took another win in race one next time out at Donington Park, while Walker experienced more woe by retiring from the second contest after stalling on the grid and dropped to third in the points behind the super-consistent Max Marzorati as the season reached its halfway point.

But the narrative dramatically changed at the next round at Snetterton, with Walker surprisingly deciding to end his campaign without explanation after initially entering the round as a privateer. That left Marzorati as Taylor’s chief rival, and the Hillspeed driver snatched the lead in the points after Taylor, who again won the opening encounter from pole, retired in a final-lap collision with Tom Mills in race two.

Taylor regained the advantage on GB4’s second visit to Silverstone in emphatic style with a hat-trick of wins.  He put himself in position to win his fourth race in a row at the penultimate round at Brands Hatch by leading race one, but slid off into the barriers in wet conditions and it allowed Marzorati to draw level with him at the top of the standings.

Marzorati leads the way

But Marzorati’s challenge unravelled from there, with a lack of pace in races two and three leaving him down the order, while a win and a second place gave Taylor a 31-point lead heading into the final round at Donington Park.

Again Taylor didn’t make it easy for himself by crashing heavily at the finale in qualifying, but the resultant red flags prevented Marzorati from being able to capitalise having not registered a competitive laptime. With his car repaired, Taylor came home second in race one before sealing the crown with a race to spare with fourth in the sequel.

“I didn’t make it easy for myself,” Taylor said afterwards. “It’s a relief. The team did a mega job fixing the car before race one. I owe them every race because the hard work they do is amazing, every time I went to the factory they were on it. [It’s been] nerve-wracking. Inexperience really cost me at Brands, and maybe at Snetterton and Silverstone.”

“It was a learning year and he made some mistakes,” added Fortec team manager Oliver Dutton. “We could’ve capitalised a little bit earlier and maybe had it done at Brands, but we’re proud of him, he’s done a good job. The pace has always been there, he’s always been fast, we knew that the first time he got in the car.

“He’d never raced before so we weren’t too sure how his racecraft would be. He’s proved himself to be a top driver and he’s won the championship, it’s fully deserved. An exciting future hopefully ahead of him.”

How the maiden GB4 season was received

Using Tatuus F4-T014 cars bought second-hand from teams racing in FIA F4 series across Europe, which had switched to the halo-shod second-generation T-421 chassis for 2022, GB4 was able to provide a more affordable route into slicks-and-wings racing for drivers without the bigger budgets to race in British F4 or abroad.

Taylor admitted after winning the title that this was key to him choosing GB4 for his first season in car racing. “It was the only way,” he revealed. “British F4 was way too expensive, GB4 was the cheapest option.”

With his championship success earning him a £50,000 prize fund, Taylor is aiming to put it towards a GB3 seat with Fortec next year, a move that will be important in showcasing GB4 as a viable step on the single-seater ladder.

While GB4 served its purpose for Taylor, grid numbers were modest in the series’ inaugural season. Despite as many as 12 teams officially declaring an interest in entering beforehand, only seven drivers were confirmed for the season as the first round approached. A late flurry of entries including two from Hillspeed, who initially planned to only join from round two onwards, bumped the field up to 12 cars for the Snetterton season-opener.

Budget issues ended the season early for Fortec’s Elias Edestam and Walker’s mid-season exit dealt a further blow, as grid numbers dropped into single figures for two rounds.

There was disparity in budgets as well across the field, with some able to change tubs later in the campaign – as many of the cars bought from Europe had already done at least five seasons of racing and even more more mileage in testing before being used in GB4 – while others were having to work hard to stretch budgets to the end of the season.

Despite the small field, the racing proved spectacular, with the two rounds on Silverstone’s Grand Prix layout delivering some of the highlights of the season. They were the first ever races using FIA F4 cars to run on the full track as British F4 has only used the National layout since the series’ 2015 inauguration.

The grid picked up to a season-high of 14 at the final round, thanks to the addition of a few series debutants evaluating options for 2023. And with sportscar outfit Fox Motorsport announcing a multi-car entry for next year there are hopes, at least, that grids will improve in GB4’s sophomore season.

“I think the grids will grow in season two,” Jonathan Palmer, CEO of GB4 creator MotorSport Vision, told Formula Scout.

“I think it’s not going to be a GB3-level of grid, partly because GB3 sits in a very distinct niche, there’s nothing to compete with it. Obviously, at a starting level, those people that can afford £300,000 or £400,000 will probably go and do British F4. But, that’s a hell of a lot of money – and that’s fine. We always accept the fact that there’s going to be people that can afford to spend a lot more money.

“But I want to provide an opportunity – and we are doing – for those that might find £100,000, £150,000, maybe at tops £200,000, to go single-seater racing. So, I’m sure the grid will grow next year, and then I think we’ve just got to work hard and just keep filling that low-cost niche.”

Late rally earns Kevin Mills Racing the teams’ title

It was a season of two halves for highly successful FFord outfit Kevin Mills Racing as it joined slicks-and-wings racing in GB4.

Things started well with three podium finishes from the opening round and a reversed-grid win for Jarrod Waberski next time out at Oulton Park, but technical gremlins and set-up issues held the team back in the early rounds.

GB4’s second visit to Snetterton signalled a turnaround in KMR’s fortunes, with Waberski taking a win and a second, while a final-lap clash with Taylor denied Tom Mills a likely podium finish in race two.

More podiums followed for both drivers at the next round before Mills took a maiden win in race one at Brands Hatch after a double overtake on Waberski and Elite’s Jack Sherwood.

A collision with team-mate Waberski in the second encounter put Mills out, but both drivers remained mathematically in title contention prior to the Donington finale, where the team finished the season in style with a clean sweep of wins.

A second triumph of the campaign for Mills and two more for Waberski enabled KMR to overhaul erstwhile leader Hillspeed to clinch the teams’ title, while Waberski snatched second in the standing from Marzorati, who was hampered by a collision with team-mate Megan Gilkes in the deciding race.

“Overall, I think it’s been an exceptional season,” said Waberski, who is aiming to make the step up to GB3 next year.

“I wasn’t even meant to do this championship in the first place. Having no [pre-season] testing and one in-season test day, I think what we’ve achieved this year has been really good, and how much I’ve developed as a driver – I’m really happy with it.”

The other contenders

After a slow start to his first campaign in single-seaters, Sherwood hit form mid-season with an unmatched run of five podiums in a row. And the Elite driver never looked back after that, remaining in title contention until the final round, scoring two reversed-grid race wins and a pole position.

Former W Series racer Gilkes shone in the first half of the season with two wins. After leading a Hillspeed one-two in the first reversed-grid race of the year at Snetterton, the Canadian showed impressive speed at round four at Donington, passing Taylor to seal a comfortable win in race two, having qualified on pole. But incidents and penalties hampered her chances of adding to the victory tally in the final four rounds.

Gilkes was one of three female drivers to stand on the podium across the year. Jessica Edgar (Fortec) and Logan Hannah (Graham Brunton Racing) both scored a second place finish in reversed-grid contests early on, with Hannah then taking victory in race three at Donington on the same day as Gilkes’ triumph. Along with GBR’s Chloe Grant, it meant four of the nine full-time entries in GB4 were women.

Oldfield Motorsport’s FF1600 star Lucas Romanek was also a reversed-grid race winner during a one-off appearance for himself and the team in round three at Silverstone. Valour Racing was another team to make a solitary appearance as it evaluated a full-season assault in 2023, scoring a podium on debut with its Radical SR1 Cup racer Daryl DeLeon Taylor.

The former BRDC British Formula 3 racer wasn’t even expecting to be on the grid for the opening round, and was having to raise budget in order to continue as the year progressed. So to take the title fight almost down to the wire was impressive. Consistency was his strong point, finishing in the top four 15 times from 18 starts prior to a dip in form at the final two rounds. The lack of a win and having relatively more experience than his rivals sees him lose out in the rankings to the other four in this list.

The Ginetta Junior graduate was put in the shade by his more experienced team-mate Walker in the first four rounds, but really upped his game after Walker’s departure, scoring two wins and four other podiums in the season’s second half – a record only bettered by Taylor and Waberski. He also earned himself the reputation as one of the best overtakers in the field. There was little to separate him and Mills overall, but it’s the latter that shades him in the rankings due to a better record in races one and two of each round, where starting grids were determined by qualifying performance.

4th in standings, 435 points (2 wins, 8 podiums) – TP 46.7%, QA 5.0, AP 18.1

After an impressive maiden single-seater campaign in FF1600 last year, it was no surprise to see Mills shine after stepping into a slicks-and-wings car with his father’s team. It took a few rounds for things to click for him, with the aggressive driving style that had served him well in FF1600 not as effective in a GB4 car, though with great racecraft he was able to hustle himself up the order on occasion when the outright pace wasn’t there. But he really hit form late in the season with wins at each of the last two rounds.

2. Jarrod Waberski SOUTH AFRICA Kevin Mills Racing
2nd in standings, 496 points (4 wins, 14 podiums, 1 fastest lap) – TP 53.3%, QA 5.0, AP 20.7

The South African was a late addition to the grid, only heading over to the United Kingdom days before the season-opener. Despite the lack of testing and UK circuit knowledge, coupled with a team that was “green” early on in the words of its owner Kevin Mills, Waberski quickly asserted himself with one win and four other podiums in the first four rounds. He only missed the podium on three occasions in the season’s second half once the team hit form, outscoring eventual champion Taylor by one point across the final four rounds while adding three more wins to his tally.

Undoubtedly the standout driver of GB4’s inaugural season, recording by far the most wins, poles, fastest laps and laps led, despite having less racing experience than his rivals prior the campaign. That inexperience did show at times, with collisions at Silverstone and Snetterton and a crash while leading at Brands Hatch among a few incidents that prevented Taylor from wrapping up the title earlier than he did. But he was consistently fast, and there were more than enough moments of star quality on display, including a clean-sweep of victories at Silverstone in July.

Elite Motorsport’s Jack Sherwood was fastest in a red-flagged GB4 qualifying at Donington Park after a crash for points leader Nikolas Taylor.

Sherwood, who still has an outside chance of winning the title, will line up on pole for Saturday’s opening race ahead of Kevin Mills Racing’s Tom Mills. Despite his late incident, Fortec Motorsports driver Taylor is due to start from pole in race two ahead of Sherwood, the grid determined by second-best laptimes.

Taylor set the pace approaching the halfway stage of the 15-minute qualifying with a 1m30.797s effort.

Jarrod Waberski briefly moved to the top with 1m30.760,s before his team-mate Mills edged ahead by 0.006 seconds.

Taylor reclaimed the ascendancy on his next effort by over 0.4s and then shaved a further 0.009s off his best, with Waberski also improving to second.

Sherwood took over at the top with a 1m30.065s, with Mills moving into second. But qualifying ended prematurely with more than three minutes still to go when Taylor crashed exiting Old Hairpin, taking two wheels off the car. The Anglo-Malaysian driver able to climb out unaided.

Taylor still qualified third for race one ahead of GB4 debutants Williams Macintyre and Aqil Alibhai, the pair both displacing Waberski before the red flag.

Mills and Waberski, both also still in title contention, will share the second row in race two, with Alibhai fifth ahead of fellow Ginetta Junior graduate Macintyre.

Oliver Clarke was the quickest Hillspeed runner in seventh ahead of his first race in two years, but his team-mate Max Marzorati – Taylor’s closest challenger in the points – could only manage the 10th fastest time.

Jack Sherwood claimed his second reversed-grid win of the season in the final GB4 race of the weekend at Brands Hatch.

The Elite Motorsport driver climbed from fourth on the grid to finish 2.755 seconds clear of points leader Nikolas Taylor, who recovered from eighth.

Sherwood gained a place immediately at the start when Graham Brunton Racing’s Logan Hannah stalled from third.

Hannah’s team-mate Chloe Grant led from pole into Paddock Hill Bend ahead of Fortec Motorsport’s Jessica Edgar.

Sherwood quickly dispatched Edgar for second at Druids before passing Grant for the lead before Hawthorns.

Kevin Mills Racing’s Tom Mills gained three places on the opening lap to run third, with Taylor climbing to fourth.

Mills moved up to second on lap three, by which time Sherwood had built a big lead. Taylor tried to drive around the outside of Grant for third at Hawthorns on lap four, but ran wide and lost ground.

But the Fortec driver soon fought back to complete the move into Paddock Hill Bend on the next tour before reeling in Mills.

Taylor eventually drove around the outside at Hawthorns to snatch second from Mills, who held off his team-mate Jarrod Waberski for third by 0.228s.

Grant was fifth ahead of the struggling Max Marzorati, while Edgar slipped back to seventh.

GB4 race-winner Jack Sherwood will race in Britain’s other Formula 4 series this weekend as he joins Chris Dittmann Racing’s line-up at Snetterton for the British F4 championship.

Sherwood graduated from the British karting scene last year, contesting British F4’s TOCA paddock neighbour Ginetta Junior with Elite Motorsport. He came 24th in his rookie season, and also contested the championship’s Winter Series.

He then remained with Elite for his move into single-seater racing this year, joining the team in the new-for-2022 GB4 series. It uses Tatuus’s first-generation F4 car, while British F4 switched to the manufacturer’s Gen2 design this season.

Sherwood’s GB4 campaign so far has been a success, with one win and five other podiums from the first six rounds. There are two events to go of that championship, neither of which clash with British F4, and Sherwood sits sixth in the standings.

“I’m happy to be joining the team for Snetterton,” said the 16-year-old. “I’m looking forward to getting to work with everyone as they’ve been great, and I’ve been following them in the championship so far.

“They seem to make really good progress so I’m looking forward to seeing what I can do, gaining experience, and trying to do the best we can. I think the team is capable of fighting for podiums, so we’ll see how Snetterton goes, but I’m looking forward to the challenge.”

“The opportunity arose to do this round and it’s mainly just to gain experience, so there was no harm in doing it.”

“Options are still open for next year and the more you drive, the more you learn, so it’s a great chance to drive the new generation F4 car. CDR have a great simulator, so I have spent a bit a bit of time on it which has been really helpful. I don’t think the car is too dissimilar to what I’ve been driving before, but there’s still going to be that learning process.

“It’s going to be tricky, going straight into a new championship, but with help from the team, we should be okay.”

Sherwood isn’t the only new driver at CDR, as it has also signed MRF F1600 racer Divy Nandan. Joel Pearson’s return to the driving seat from injury is now set to take place at Thruxton on August 27/28.
