Spanish Formula 4 has revealed a draft calendar for 2026, while Eurocup-3 has updated its schedule for next year.

As has been the case since 2019, Spanish F4 will have a seven-round campaign. Valencia’s Ricardo Tormo circuit moves from an October date in 2025 to opening the 2026 season on April 10-12, the earliest it has ever featured in a campaign.

Round two is at Algarve in Portugal on June 5-7, and provisionally is the championship’s sole trip abroad. Spanish F4 usually holds two rounds annually outside of Spain, although Algarve (2016 and ’18) and Paul Ricard (2020) in France have been the sole non-Spanish track in previous seasons.

There is a one-week break after Algarve before round three at Motorland Aragon, then round four will be on August 8/9 but has no venue yet.

Later in the year are rounds at Jerez (September 25-27), Navarra (October 9-11) and Barcelona (November 6-8). Aragon, Jerez and Barcelona have been raced on in every Spanish F4 season.

Paul Ricard is the only circuit from 2025 not on 2026’s calendar, but will likely be in contention against former venues Jarama and Spa-Francorchamps to fill the vacant slot.

Spanish F4 could support Eurocup-3 on August 8/9, as its updated 2026 calendar features that date without a track. Eurocup-3 was launched in 2023 by Spanish F4’s promoter.

This July, Eurocup-3 announced major technical changes for 2026 that would move it up the single-seater ladder and an eight-round calendar featuring five Formula 1 track that was published while subject to FIA approval.

Belgian track Spa-Francorchamps was to host the 2026 season opener on an unconfirmed weekend in April, then Eurocup-3 was going to visit Paul Ricard (May 1-3), Austria’s Red Bull Ring (May 16-18), Algarve (June 5-7) and Imola in Italy (July 3-5).

A notable inclusion was round six, which was to take place on Madrid’s new ‘Madring’ which will be home of F1’s Spanish Grand Prix from 2026 onwards. While without a confirmed date, Eurocup-3 was due to visit several weeks ahead of F1 in August and potentially be part of the first ever motorsport event on the temporary circuit.

Round seven was also noticable for being at Silverstone (September 11-13). European series rarely visit the track due to it often requiring shipping cars and equipment to Britain. Barcelona was penned in to close the season on November 6-8.

The Paul Ricard, Imola and Silverstone rounds all supported European Le Mans Series races, and remain on the updated 2026 calendar along with Algarve and Barcelona.

Spa-Francorchamps, the Red Bull Ring and Madrid have been dropped, Monza (July 31-August 2) and the Hungaroring (October 23-25) have been added and round five is without a venue.

Assen, Jerez, the Red Bull Ring and Spa hosted Eurocup-3 this year but will not in 2026, while Imola, Silverstone and the Hungaroring are brand new to the championship.

ART Grand Prix’s Gabriel Gomez set the pace in Formula Regional Europe Championship post-season testing at Monza.

There were four sessions apiece on Tuesday and Wednesday, and the very first was topped by Trident’s Andrija Kostic.

He posted a 1m44.694s to lead R-ace GP’s Rashid Al Dhaheri by a slim 0.092 seconds and Gomez by 0.156s. Two other drivers were within a second of the pace, and CL Motorsport had a driver in its #9 car who only contested session one before Newman Chi contested the rest of the test in its #20 car.

Trident’s Maximilian Popov lowered the pace to 1m44.053s in session two, just 0.027s quicker than Kostic and with a 0.115s gap to Al Dhaheri. Gomez was fourth, 0.204s off and 0.015s ahead of R-ace’s Emanuele Olivieri. His team-mate Yuki Sano trailed by 0.423s, and Chi was 0.501s slower than Popov as everybody who laid down laptimes set personal bests.

Popov was fastest again in session three, a 1m44.310s putting him 0.259s clear of Olivieri. Although a second covered the top nine, Gomez was the only other driver within half a second of Popov and the three drivers who improved were down the order.

The day’s action concluded with Popov denying Chi top spot in session four. There was 0.033s between the two, with Popov setting a 1m44.546s. Olivieri and Al Dhaheri were just 0.087s and 0.089s behind, and Gomez completed a top five split by 0.195s. Sano was sixth, 0.297s off the pace as Gomez’s two team-mates improved.

Testing’s fastest lap was posted by Gomez on Wednesday morning. His 1m44.038s put him 0.191s ahead of Kostic in session five, and a tiny 0.015s ahead of Popov in the test’s overall classification. Once again the top seven were split by a second, and personal bests were set by five drivers.

Gomez led the way again in session six, a 1m44.117s earning him first place by 0.083s. This time nine drivers were within a second of Gomez, and the five improvers included Chi and Van Amersfoort Racing’s Miguel Costa and Wiktor Dobrzanski.

Laptimes were a slower in session seven, and a 1m45.199s was enough to put Popov on top with a 0.387s gap to Gomez.

Session eighth was also without pace improvements, and Olivieri set a 1m44.566s to top the timesheet. Al Dhaheri trailed by 0.354s in second, and Popov was 0.445s back in third.

Alp Hasan Aksoy was quickest for Prema in post-season Italian Formula 4 testing at Monza this week.

His team-mate Sasha Bondarev started the two-day test on top, setting a 1m52.612s in the first session on Tuesday to lead Aksoy by 0.143 seconds and US Racing’s Ary Bansal by 0.56s. Also within a second of the pace were and Niccolo Maccagnani (Prema), Olexander Savinkov (US) and Beco Bernoldi (Prema).

Aksoy lowered the pace to 1m52.309s in session two, leading Bondarev by 0.15s and Maccagnani by 0.386s. This time a second covered the top seven and only four of the 33 drivers (two from Maffi Racing and two from R-ace GP) did not improve.

Savinkov got within 0.119s of Aksoy’s benchmark with the fastest lap of session three. Bondarev and Aksoy failed to improve in second and third, 0.165s and 0.216s behind respectively, with Maccagnani also not setting a personal best in fifth place behind PHM Racing’s Iacopo Martinese.

Tuesday ended with slower laptimes for everyone in session four. Bondarev posted a 1m52.808s to top the timesheet, 0.443s ahead of Maccagnani and 0.633s clear of Aksoy. US’s Ludovico Busso was fourth, followed by Bernoldi, Bansal and Savinkov.

There was only one improver in session five on Wednesday morning: Maffi Racing’s Teodor Borenstein. He went quickest with a 1m53.512s, which lifted him from 19th to 12th in the test’s overall classification.

Busso was just 0.09s behind, with Bansal and Savinkov trailing by 0.122s and 0.15s. A second covered the top nine.

It was even closer competition in session six, which Aksoy topped by 0.028s after setting a 1m53.123s on his penultimate lap. That demoted Savinkov to second, with Busso 0.35s and Bansal 0.374s behind in a top 10 split by a second. Further down the order there were two improvers.

Aksoy led the way again in session seven, posting a 1m53.007s to once again pip Savinkov. There was a gap of 0.057s between them, and 0.1s to Bansal.

Busso was over half a second slower than Aksoy in fourth, ahead of Van Amersfoort Racing’s Thomas Bearman, Trident’s Lyuboslav Ruykov and R-ace’s Kenzo Craigie who was one of two drivers delivering personal bests.

Testing concluded with another Aksoy-topped session. He set a 1m53.456s to be fastest by 0.34s over Bansal and 0.39s over Killion. Trident’s Augustus Toniolo, already confirmed to be racing for the team when its F4 squad starts racing in 2026, was 0.596s off in fourth.

Prema’s Kean Nakamura-Berta completed a clean sweep of victories at the final round at Monza to add the E4 championship title to his Italian Formula 4 crown.

Nakamura-Berta made a good start from pole position but in the run down to the Rettifilo chicane was passed by team-mates Newman Chi and Salim Hanna, with PHM Racing’s Reno Francot taking fourth from the Prema car of Sebastian Wheldon.

US Racing’s Gabriel Gomez, who needed to win with Nakamura-Berta not scoring to snatch the title, was up to seventh from 13th on the grid, having straightlined the chicane in the opening lap confusion.

Nakamura-Berta was back in front within five laps and was able to hold position to the flag, although never escaping the clutches of his pursuers.

Gomez was giving everything as he tried to get on terms with Nakamura-Berta, but had to fight lap-after-lap with Wheldon. One optimistic move at the first lap saw Wheldon edge him onto the gravel but Gomez was able to continue after losing just one place.

Chi’s challenge came to an end after taking to the first chicane escape road, and then damaging his front wing in a collision, requiring him to pit at the end of lap 6.

Wheldon and Gomez continued to battle, with both cutting the second chicane, although Wheldon gave back the position he had gained in the process.

US Racing’s Kabir Anurag had slowly been moving through the field, taking fourth on lap 12, and demoting Gomez for fourth on the following lap.

However, Nakamura-Berta was ultimately out of reach, Hanna following him him, 1.4s adrift.

Gomez, whose freeform interpretation of the track layout attracted the attention of the stewards, took the flag in fourth from Wheldon and Francot.

R-ace GP’s Alex Powell put in a stunning drive to come home seventh from 25th on the grid, with Ferrari junior Niccolo Maccagnani following him over the line after a very mature and impressive drive for BVM Racing.

Prema’s Freddie Slater rounded off his 2025 Formula Regional Europe season in style with a lights-to-flag triumph in the final race at Monza.

Slater resisted race-long pressure from championship runner-up, Trident’s Matteo De Palo, to clinch his eighth win of the campaign, equalling Gregoire Saucy’s 2021 tally.

Sadly, the hundredth and final race of the five-year cooperation between the Italian Automobile Federation (ACI) and Alpine was denied a race-to-the-flag after a late incident meant the race finished under safety car conditions.

Slater made a strong getaway from pole and although De Palo could draw alongside under braking for the first chicane, the Trident driver had to drop in behind Slater as the field funnelled its way through.

Prema’s bid to snatch the teams’ title was dealt a major blow as Rashid Al Dhaheri was turned around at the Roggia chicane on the first lap, dropping to the tail of the field.

With the third car of Jack Beeton not starting, having incurred a five-place grid penalty after qualifying for two offences, the team’s chances of taking the title for a fourth consecutive season were gone.

The front five of Slater, De Palo, ART Grand Prix’s Evan Giltaire, Sainteloc Racing’s Nikita Bedrin and R-P-M’s series debutant Jan Przyrowski began to pull out a gap on their pursuers.

ART Grand Prix’s Taito Kato had jumped to the top of that group, despite a wild trip through the first chicane, depositing gravel across the exit.

Behind him, R-ace GP’s Jin Nakamura was fighting off a three-pronged attack from the Van Amersfoort Racing team, headed by Dion Gowda.

The leaders gradually extended the gaps, with the top three gradually dropping those behind.

Kato had joined the group comprising Bedrin and Przyrowski, but on lap 11 Bedrin was forced into the gravel at the Roggia chicane as he fought for position with Kato, bringing out the safety car.

As the field attacked the first chicane on lap 14, Gowda launched across the kerbs, hitting team-mate Hiyu Yamakoshi and leaving R-ace GP’s Enzo Deligny with nowhere to go.

Deligny could continue at the back of the field but pulled off two laps later, with the safety car already circulating.

With three cars stranded, the rescue operation could not be completed in time to allow a final lap shoot-out, allowing Slater to take the chequered flag at reduced speed.

Kato held on for fourth with Przyrowski taking a promising fifth, and enabling the R-P-M team to finish the year on a high after a difficult year.

With only Slater scoring points for Prema, R-ace GP held on to clinch their second FREC teams’ title, neatly bookending the championship’s Alpine era with wins in the first and last seasons.

The team had been struggling all weekend to find pace in the cold morning qualifying conditions but were able to show more of their underlying pace in the races.

Deligny had put on a strong charge from 21st on the grid, and both Nakamura and Akshay Bohra scored points to secure the title for the French team, which recently celebrated 15 years in motor-racing.

Kean Nakamura-Berta took another step towards the E4 title with his second victory of the weekend at Monza as Gabriel Gomez kept his title chances alive with second.

The Prema driver’s third E4 win of the season leaves him just one point shy of adding the title to that of the Italian F4 championship.

While Nakamura-Berta asserted himself at the front, the battle for second place generated the principal excitement of the race.

A four-car fight, involving PHM Racing’s Reno Francot, US Racing’s Gomez and the Prema pair of Newman Chi and Sebastian Wheldon raged throughout.

With Nakamura-Berta heading for victory and 25 points, Gomez knew that only second would be enough to continue the title fight into the final round. In a dramatic finale, he was able to regain the position from Wheldon just before the safety car brought an end to green flag running.

Francot made the best start from the front row, drawing alongside Nakamura-Berta into the Rettifilo chicane but could not slow down enough to make the apex, cutting the corner and ceding the position to the Prema man on the run to Roggia.

US Racing’s Ary Bansal, an impressive third in qualifying, was an early spinner, rejoining at the back of the field.

Chi slotted into second place with Francot in third ahead of Gomez and Wheldon.

US Racing’s Arjen Kraling and Van Amersfoort Racing’s Alexander Ruta came together at Turn 1, but fortunately managed to get themselves going before a safety car was necessary.

Into the first chicane on lap four, Francot again locked up, this time taking to the full escape road and allowing Gomez to make a move into Parabolica for third, with Wheldon following him by into the second chicane on the next lap.

Gomez was on a charge as he looked to chase after Nakamura-Berta, sailing past Chi on the pit straight at the end of the sixth lap, with Wheldon also slipping through into the Rettifilo. Gomez started to gradually chip away at the two second gap to the leader.

Bansal completed a miserable race with contact with R-ace GP’s Oleksandr Savinkov at the same corner, bringing out the safety car.

At the restart, Gomez had a look to the outside of Nakamura-Berta into the first chicane but had to back out, losing momentum and allowing Wheldon to get back in front at the Roggia.

The safety car was back out after Jenzer Motorsport’s Andre Rodriguez and Savinkov both spun wildly on the exit of Ascari after contact.

As Gomez again challenged Nakamura-Berta at the restart he lost ground, allowing Francot to draw alongside on the exit. Three abreast on the run through Curva Grande, Gomez just managed to squeeze past Francot into the second chicane to regain second.

Just in time, as it turned out, as behind them Prema’s Andre Dupe and VAR’s Dante Vinci had collided at Turn 1, blocking the track, and ensuring that the last lap would run under yellows.

Francot held onto third ahead of Wheldon and Chi. The US Racing pair of Andrija Kostic and Kabir Anurag took sixth and seventh respectively, ahead of VAR’s Maksimilian Popov, Prema’s Salim Hanna – supported here at Monza by Juan Pablo Montoya – with AMG-Mercedes junior Andy Consani taking 10th for R-ace GP.

Newly crowned Formula Regional Europe champion Freddie Slater took his sixth pole of the season for the last race at Monza despite a wild ride though the Ascari gravel trap midway through qualifying.

Trident’s Matteo De Palo bounced back from the disappointment of seeing his title hopes evaporate in a dramatic first race with fastest in Group B to join the Prema driver on the front row.

The Van Amersfoort Racing trio were the first to set representative times in Group B, with Dion Gowda benefitting from his team-mates’ slipstream to go top. However, as others completed their first flying laps it was ART Grand Prix’s Evan Giltaire who went fastest with a 1m45.328s.

Next time around, De Palo moved the benchmark below 1m45s, with Giltaire improving but staying second. De Palo went faster still on his sixth lap, to put him 0.553 seconds clear of Giltaire, with R-P-M’s Jan Przyrowski profiting from the triple VAR tow to go third.

Despite being unable to better his time on his final lap, De Palo held on to top spot as Giltaire fell 0.102s short despite a last lap improvement.

A final lap improvement ensured that impressive debutant Przyrowski held onto third, with Gowda and team-mate Pedro Clerot, running at the front of the VAR train throughout the session, just behind.

Slater was immediately on the pace in Group A, lapping in 1m44.897s on his first flying lap, to go 0.306s clear of ART Grand Prix’s Taito Kato.

Pushing hard on the following lap, Slater locked up under braking for Ascari, running at almost unabated speed through the gravel before launching the car off the kerb as he rejoined.

Slater’s error allowed team-mates Jack Beeton and Rashid Al Dhaheri to move to the top of the times, with Slater dropping to fifth.

With times not improving, Slater appeared to have missed his chance but pulled out a stunning last lap to take top spot in the group by 0.131s and with it pole position.

Beeton held onto second with another late improver, Sainteloc Racing’s Nikita Bedrin splitting the Prema trio. G4 Racing’s Edu Robinson took an impressive fifth place behind Al Dhaheri.

Prema’s Kean Nakamura-Berta took victory in a safety car-dominated E4 race at Monza to extend his points lead with two races remaining.

The combination of Formula 4 and Monza inevitably seems to produce plentiful safety cars and this was no exception. However, the race produced some scintillating racing in the brief periods of green flag running.

Nakamura-Berta had inherited pole after a two-place grid penalty was handed to team-mate Sebastian Wheldon but failed to capitalise. Prema’s Newman Chi, starting from the front row, attacked on the outside into the first corner, emerging in front, with Wheldon and US Racing’s Gabriel Gomez demoting Nakamura-Berta to fourth.

Incidents involving Ludovico Busso, Guy Albag and Payton Westcott brought out the first of three safety cars.

At the restart, Chi locked up into the Rettifilo, taking to the escape road and rejoining ahead of Gomez who had passed Wheldon. Chi handed the place to Gomez, dropping behind Wheldon in the process.

Wheldon attacked Gomez for the lead into Parabolica but Nakamura-Berta benefitted from the double tow to draft past both into the first chicane just as the safety car reappeared after a collision between the two Jenzer cars of Teo Schropp and Nicolas Cortes, with Van Amersfoort Racing’s Alexander Ruta also involved.

Nakamura-Berta backed the field up before leaving his launch to the last moment. Despite weaving down the straight to break the tow, Nakamura-Berta still had to fend off a challenge from Wheldon.

A further incident at the Roggia brought out the safety car once more. This time Nakamura-Berta went early at the restart, surprising his opponents and leaving Wheldon defending from Gomez.

Having defended his position, Wheldon closed in on Nakamura-Berta, cutting the Roggia chicane to get past on the final lap, although he wisely decided to concede the position.

Wheldon held on for second ahead of Gomez with Chi in fourth despite a bent front wing. US Racing’s Kabir Anurag took fifth with Maximilian Popov in sixth for VAR.

Prema’s Freddie Slater wrapped up the Formula Regional European Championship with one race remaining after a race-long battle with polesitter Evan Giltaire at Monza.

The ART Grand Prix driver defended his position valiantly, locking up dramatically as he tried to hold Slater off, but in the end the Englishman’s challenge was irresistible.

Slater’s title rival, Trident’s Matteo De Palo, suffered a blow to his hopes before the start with a two-place grid penalty dropping him to ninth.

After a pit stop to replace a front wing damaged in a first corner kerfuffle, De Palo was only able to fight back to 11th at the flag, giving Slater an insurmountable points lead ahead of Sunday’s final round.

Giltaire immediately moved to the inside to block Slater into the Rettifilo chicane at the start allowing a fast-starting Pedro Clerot to draw alongside the Prema car.

Before the race, Giltaire had been confident that Slater would not risk too much given the points position. However, Slater had other ideas and challenged into the Roggia chicane before attempting an audacious move around the outside at the first Lesmo.

Behind them, midfield contact sidelined Prema’s Jack Beeton and R-ace GP’s Jin Nakamura. His R-ace GP team-mate Enzo Deligny spun after contact with Trident’s Nandhavud Bhirombhakdi and rejoined last.

De Palo emerged in fifth but had incurred damage to his front wing. He would gradually drop back before being forced to pit for repairs.

After a brief safety car period, Giltaire held off Slater as Clerot and ART Grand Prix’s Taito Kato fell in behind.

However, the race was soon neutralised once more after an incident between CL Motorsport’s Michael Belov and Sainteloc Racing’s James Egozi on the run to the first Lesmo eliminated both, and collected the unfortunate Hiyu Yamakoshi (VAR).

Racing resumed with 11 minutes remaining, Giltaire weaving to keep Slater behind. Slater had a look into the second chicane but held position. Next time around he made another move into the first chicane, even getting his nose in front but desperate late-breaking from Giltaire kept him in front.

The next challenge was immediate: Giltaire cutting the second chicane in defence as Slater kicked up dust on the exit.

However, Slater was not to be denied and dived to the inside into Parabolica to take the lead, pulling away to win by 1.6s.

Giltaire held off Clerot and Kato for a very well-deserved second place. Deligny recovered from his first corner drama to seventh, while VAR’s Dion Gowda clinced the rookie championship with eighth.

ART Grand Prix’s Evan Giltaire will start the penultimate race of the Formula Regional European Championship from pole position.

Having recovered from a mid-season dip in form, Giltaire continued a strong performance in Friday’s practice to set the pace throughout his qualifying session, with a time 0.404 seconds faster than anybody else could manage.

Prema’s Freddie Slater will start alongside Giltaire on the front row, after topping the times in the slower Group A.

Slater’s title rivals, Trident’s Matteo De Palo and R-ace GP’s Enzo Deligny will share the fourth row for Saturday’s race.

Giltaire had already set the best time across Friday’s two practice sessions, leading the second session by 0.197s over Slater after Pedro Clerot had topped the slower morning running.

With air temperatures below 5°C on Saturday morning, the first group on track initially struggled to get their tyres warmed up sufficiently to go for a flying lap. Prema’s Jack Beeton was the first to make an attempt but aborted halfway through his lap.

The first proper laps came on the fourth tour with Slater immediately jumping to the top of the times with a 1m45.745s, with team-mate Rashid Al Dhaheri 0.296s back in second. Deligny improved up to third to split the Prema trio.

After backing off for a lap, Slater went faster by half a second on his sixth lap, with ART Grand Prix’s Taito Kato moving up to second.

Track conditions were still pricing tricky, particularly at the Ascari chicane which caught out Beeton, Al Dhaheri and series debutant Tomass Stolcermanis for R-P-M.

Slater, however, had more in hand and took the chequered flag with a lap of 1m44.576s, putting him 0.546s clear of Kato, with Al Dhaheri holding onto third from Deligny.

The second session was no quicker to ignite with ten minutes on the clock before any representative times were set. Trident’s Nandhavud Bhirombhakdi initially went top with a 1m46.600s, but Giltaire was on a flyer, crossing the line in 1m45.442s with De Palo slotting into second ahead of Van Amersfoort Racing’s Pedro Clerot.

Clerot improved on his next lap to go briefly fastest before Trident’s Ruiqi Liu demoted him.

However, Giltaire had kept enough in reserve to improve further. On his penultimate lap, he moved back to the front with a 1m44.698s, before going 0.526s quicker on his final lap to ensure top spot in the session.

Clerot was another to improve as the flag fell to move up to second ahead of Bhirombhakdi. Despite also setting his best time on the last lap, De Palo had to settle for fourth from another series debutant at R-P-M, Jan Przyrowski.
